Chapter: Giving a Kunya Based on a Trait or One of Them
Hadith Number: 852
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Ali’s (may Allah be pleased with him) favorite name was Abu Turab. He would be pleased when called by this name because it was the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who had given him this name. One day, he became upset with Sayyida Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) and left the house, lying down by the wall of the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came looking for him, and he was informed that Ali was lying there by the wall in the mosque. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came and saw that Ali’s back was covered with dust. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) began to brush the dust off his back and said:“Abu Turab, (get up) sit down.”

Hadith Number: 853
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was in our, that is, Sayyiduna Abu Talha's (may Allah be pleased with him) date orchard. The Prophet (peace be upon him) went out to relieve himself, and Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) also followed behind out of respect for him, but avoided walking directly with him. The Prophet (peace be upon him) passed by a grave and stopped there until Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) also suddenly arrived there. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked: "Woe to you, O Bilal! Do you hear what I am hearing?" Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "I do not hear anything." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The occupant of this grave is being punished." Then it was found out that it was the grave of a Jew.
