Musnad Ahmad
وَمِنْ أَخْبَارِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
And from the reports of Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith Number: 539
(حديث موقوف) حدثنا حدثنا عبد الله، حدثني عبيد الله بن عمر القواريري ، حدثنا ابو القاسم بن ابي الزناد ، حدثني واقد بن عبد الله التميمي ، عمن راى عثمان بن عفان ضبب اسنانه بذهب".
The observers say that Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) had gold wire fitted on his teeth.
حكم دارالسلام: إسناده ضعيف لإبهام الراوي الذى رأى عثمان
Hadith Number: 540
(حديث موقوف) حدثنا حدثنا هشيم بن بشير إملاء، قال: انبانا محمد بن قيس الاسدي ، عن موسى بن طلحة ، قال: سمعت عثمان بن عفان وهو على المنبر،" والمؤذن يقيم الصلاة، وهو يستخبر الناس، يسالهم عن اخبارهم واسعارهم".
Musa bin Talha says that I saw Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) seated on the pulpit, the muezzin was giving the iqamah, and he was inquiring about the conditions of the people and asking about the prices of goods.
حكم دارالسلام: صحيح
Hadith Number: 541
(حديث مرفوع) حدثنا عبد الله، حدثني سويد بن سعيد ، حدثنا إبراهيم بن سعد ، عن ابن شهاب ، عن السائب بن يزيد :" ان عثمان سجد في ص".
Sa’ib bin Yazid says: On one occasion, Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) recited Surah Sad, and when he reached the verse of prostration, he also performed the prostration.
حكم دارالسلام: صحيح، سويد بن سعيد متابع
Hadith Number: 542
(حديث مرفوع) حدثنا عبد الله، حدثني سريج بن يونس ، حدثنا محبوب بن محرز بياع القوارير كوفي ثقة، كذا قال سريج، عن إبراهيم بن عبد الله يعني ابن فروخ ، عن ابيه ، قال:" صليت خلف عثمان العيد فكبر سبعا وخمسا".
Farukh says that I have offered the Eid prayer behind Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), in which he used to say seven and five takbeers.
حكم دارالسلام: إسناده ضعيف لضعف محبوب بن محرز وجهالة إبراهيم ابن عبدالله
Hadith Number: 543
(حديث موقوف) حدثنا حدثنا عبد الصمد ، حدثنا سالم ابو جميع ، حدثنا الحسن ، وذكر عثمان وشدة حيائه، فقال:" إن كان ليكون في البيت، والباب عليه مغلق، فما يضع عنه الثوب ليفيض عليه الماء، يمنعه الحياء ان يقيم صلبه".
Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) once mentioned Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) and his intense modesty, saying: If he was inside the house, he would not remove his clothes to pour water over his body until he had properly closed the door, and his sense of shame and modesty would prevent him from straightening his back.

Hadith Number: 544
(حديث موقوف) حدثنا حدثنا إبراهيم بن خالد الصنعاني ، حدثني امية بن شبل ، وغيره، قالوا:" ولي عثمان ثنتي عشرة سنة، وكانت الفتنة خمس سنين".
Umayyah bin Shibl and others say that Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) remained on the throne of caliphate for twelve years, out of which the last five years passed in trial and tribulation.
حكم دارالسلام: إسناده منقطع، أمية بن شبل قال عنه أحمد شاكر : ولا يمكن أن يكون أدرك عثمان ولا غيره من الصحابة
Hadith Number: 545
(حديث مقطوع) حدثنا إسحاق بن عيسى بن الطباع ، عن ابي معشر ، قال:" وقتل عثمان يوم الجمعة، لثمان عشرة مضت من ذي الحجة، سنة خمس وثلاثين، وكانت خلافته ثنتي عشرة سنة إلا اثني عشر يوما".
Abu Ma’shar says that! The martyrdom of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) occurred on Friday, the 18th of Dhu al-Hijjah, in the year 35 AH. His total period of caliphate was twelve years, less twelve days.
حكم دارالسلام: إسناده منقطع، أبو معشر ضعيف، ولم يدرك عثمان
Hadith Number: 546
(حديث مقطوع) حدثنا عبد الله، حدثني عبيد الله بن معاذ ، حدثنا معتمر بن سليمان ، قال: قال ابي حدثنا ابو عثمان : ان عثمان" قتل في اوسط ايام التشريق".
Abu Uthman says that the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) occurred during the days of Tashreeq. (Not many days had passed since the days of Tashreeq.)
حكم دارالسلام: إسناده صحيح
Hadith Number: 547
(حديث موقوف) حدثنا حدثنا حسن بن موسى ، حدثنا ابو هلال ، حدثنا قتادة :" ان عثمان قتل وهو ابن تسعين سنة، او ثمان وثمانين".
Qatadah says that at the time of martyrdom, the age of Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) was 90 or 88 years.
حكم دارالسلام: إسناده منقطع، قتادة لم يدرك عثمان
Hadith Number: 548
(حديث مقطوع) حدثنا عبد الله، حدثني جعفر بن محمد بن فضيل ، حدثنا ابو نعيم ، حدثنا ابو خلدة ، عن ابي العالية ، قال:" كنا بباب عثمان في عشر الاضحى".
Abu Al-Aliyah says that during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, we were standing guard at the door of the house of Sayyiduna Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him.
