It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me while I was ill, and I was making this supplication: "O Allah! If the time of my death is near, then grant me relief from this illness and call me to Yourself. If it is to be delayed, then raise me up, and if this is a trial, then grant me patience." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What are you saying?" I repeated my words. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) struck me with his foot, meaning he expressed displeasure, and said: "What are you saying?" I repeated my words again. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: "O Allah! Grant him well-being and healing." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that after that, I never suffered that pain again.
