Musnad of Abdullah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with them)
Hadith Number: 6129
(حديث مرفوع) حدثنا عبيدة بن حميد ، حدثني الاسود بن قيس ، عن سعيد بن عمرو القرشي ، ان عبد الله بن عمر حدثهم، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، انه قال:" إنا امة امية لا نكتب ولا نحسب، وإن الشهر هكذا وهكذا وهكذا"، ثم نقص واحدة في الثالثة.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: We are an unlettered nation; we do not know calculation. Sometimes the month is like this, like this, and like this. The third time, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, folded his thumb.
