Chapter on What is Reported Regarding Sending Blessings on the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith Number: 397
حدثني يحيى، عن مالك، عن عبد الله بن ابي بكر بن حزم ، عن ابيه ، عن عمرو بن سليم الزرقي ، انه قال: اخبرني ابو حميد الساعدي ، انهم قالوا: يا رسول الله، كيف نصلي عليك؟ فقال:" قولوا: اللهم صل على محمد وازواجه وذريته، كما صليت على آل إبراهيم، وبارك على محمد وازواجه وذريته، كما باركت على آل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد"
It is narrated from Abu Humayd Sa'idi that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! How should we send blessings upon you? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Say, O Lord, send mercy upon Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his wives and his family as You sent mercy upon Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and send blessings upon Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his wives and his family as You sent blessings upon the family of Ibrahim (peace be upon him). Surely, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious."
