Sayyiduna Abu Humayd As-Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sent a man from Yemen to collect the zakat of the people of Yemen, and he brought back a large amount of wealth. Then, when you sent a man to take account from him, he said,“This is my wealth and this is yours.”Then, if he is asked,“Where did you get this wealth from?”he says,“I was given it as a gift.”If he is truthful, then why was he not given this gift when he was sitting at his father’s or mother’s house? Then the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said:“Whoever I send for any work, and then he commits treachery in it, he will come on the Day of Resurrection carrying that stolen property on his neck. If it is a camel, it will be groaning; if it is a cow, it will be mooing; if it is a goat, it will be bleating.”Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:“O Allah, I have conveyed the message.”Upon hearing this, Ibn Zubair said to Abu Humayd As-Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him),“Did you hear this statement yourself from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)?”He replied,“Yes.”
