٢٢٨٩٥ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن ابي جعفر (الفراء) (١) عن (جعفر) (٢) (٣) بن ابي (ثروان) (٤) ان عليا حث الناس على ابن (النباح) (٥) (فجمعوا) (٦) له (اكثر) (٧) من مكاتبته ففضلت (٨) فضلة فجعلها علي (في) (٩) المكاتبين (١٠).

It is narrated from Hazrat Ja'far ibn Abu Tharwan, may Allah have mercy on him, that Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, encouraged the people to provide financial assistance to Ibn al-Nabbah. The people collected for him more than the amount required for his contract of manumission. After paying the amount for the contract of manumission, some was left over. Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, gave that to two other contract slaves and had their contract amounts paid.
