Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the first seven fortunate people to embrace Islam were: the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم , Hazrat Abu Bakr, Hazrat Bilal, Hazrat Khabbab, Hazrat Suhaib, Hazrat Ammar, and Hazrat Ammar’s mother, Hazrat Sumayyah (may Allah be pleased with them). The uncle of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم prevented people from harming him, and the people of Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) prevented harm from reaching him. The rest of the Muslims were seized by the disbelievers, iron collars were placed around their necks, and they were thrown into the heat of the sun until they had exhausted all their efforts. Then, whatever was demanded from them was given, and then people from their tribes would come to each of them with a leather bag containing water, pour it over them, and then lift them up by their sides, except for Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him). When evening came, Abu Jahl arrived and began to abuse and insult Hazrat Sumayyah (may Allah be pleased with her), and then he martyred her by stabbing her in her private part with a spear. She was the first martyr in Islam. Except for Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), he was severely tormented (humiliated) in the way of Allah until even the disbelievers became weary and fed up. They put a rope around Hazrat Bilal’s (may Allah be pleased with him) neck and ordered the children to drag him through the streets of Makkah, and Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) would keep saying,“Ahad, Ahad”(One, One).
