٤٠٢٣٩ - حدثنا عفان قال: حدثنا (سليم) (١) بن (اخضر) (٢) قال: حدثنا ابن عون قال: كان مسلم بن يسار ارفع عند اهل البصرة من الحسن حتى خف مع ابن الاشعث، وكف الحسن، فلم يزل ابو سعيد في (علو منها) (٣) بعد، وسقط الآخر.

(٣) في [س]: (علومها).
It is narrated from Ibn Aun that he said: According to the people of Basra, Muslim bin Yasar held a higher status than Hasan, to the extent that he joined Ibn al-Ash'ath, and his position declined, while Hasan remained steadfast. Abu Saeed always prevailed in Basra, and the others declined.
