2 - Chapter on the Sitting Posture for Tashahhud, Pointing with the Index Finger, and Other Matters
Hadith Number: 1806
عن ابي سعيد الخدري رضي الله عنه قال: قلنا: يا رسول الله! هٰذا السلام عليك قد علمناه، فكيف الصلاة عليك؟ فقال: ((قولوا: اللهم صل على محمد عبدك ورسولك كما صليت على إبراهيم، وبارك على محمد وآل محمد كما باركت على إبراهيم وآل إبراهيم))
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says that we said: O Messenger of Allah! We know how to send peace (salam) upon you, now what is the way to send blessings (salat) upon you? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You should say like this: O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad, Your servant and Messenger, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim. And send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim.
