Section on What Has Been Reported Regarding Command and Prohibition Concerning Fara' and 'Atirah
Hadith Number: 4721
عن حبيب بن مخنف قال انتهيت إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم يوم عرفة قال وهو يقول هل تعرفونها قال فما ادري ما رجعوا عليه قال فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم على كل بيت ان يذبحوا شاة في كل رجب وكل اضحى شاة
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Habib bin Mukhnaf (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: When I reached the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of Arafah, he (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: "Do you know this?" I do not know what the people replied to him (peace and blessings be upon him), then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is obligatory upon every household to slaughter one goat in the month of Rajab and one goat on the occasion of Eid al-Adha."
