Chapter on Those Whom the Prophet (peace be upon him) Named and Whose Names He Changed for a Benefit
Hadith Number: 4766
عن مسلم بن عبد الله الازدي قال جاء عبد الله بن قرط الازدي رضي الله عنه إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم فقال له النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم ما اسمك قال شيطان بن قرط فقال له النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم انت عبد الله بن قرط
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muslim bin Abdullah Azdi (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abdullah Qart Azdi (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: "What is your name?" He replied: "Shaytan bin Qart." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "You are Abdullah bin Qart."
