باب من سماهم النبى صلى الله عليه وسلم وغير أسماءهم لمصلحة
Chapter on Those Whom the Prophet (peace be upon him) Named and Whose Names He Changed for a Benefit
Hadith Number: 4767
عن ليلى امراة بشير ابن الخصاصية عن بشير رضي الله عنه قال وكان قد اتى النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال اسمه زحم فسماه النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم بشيرا
Lady Laila (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of Sayyiduna Basheer bin Khasasiyyah (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates from her husband that he went to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), while his original name was Zahm. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) changed his name to Basheer.
