Chapter on Vows in Obedience to Allah the Exalted and the Obligation to Fulfill Them Whether in the Pre-Islamic Period or in Islam
Hadith Number: 5357
Bint Kardama narrates from her father that he asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: I have vowed to sacrifice three camels. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: If this vow is related to any gathering of the Age of Ignorance, or any festival of the Age of Ignorance, or for any idol, then it should not be fulfilled. If it is for any purpose other than these three matters, then fulfill your vow. She said: O Messenger of Allah! The mother of this girl has vowed to walk on foot; can this girl walk on her behalf? The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Yes.
