Chapter on What Has Been Reported Regarding the Dislike of Brass and Iron Rings and the Recommendation of Silver Rings
Hadith Number: 7977
عن عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه قال إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم راى في يد رجل خاتما من ذهب فقال الق ذا فالقاه فتختم بخاتم من حديد فقال ذا شر منه فتختم بخاتم من فضة فسكت عنه
Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man wearing a gold ring on his hand and said: Remove it. He removed it and had a ring made of iron, but regarding this the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This is even worse than that. Then he had a ring made of silver, and upon this the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent.
