Chapter on What is Disliked and Not Disliked – Clarification that“Under His Foot”Means the Left Foot
Hadith Number: 2268
اخبرنا محمد بن الحسن بن قتيبة اللخمي ، قال: حدثنا حرملة بن يحيى ، قال: حدثنا ابن وهب ، قال: اخبرنا يونس ، عن ابن شهاب ، قال: اخبرني حميد بن عبد الرحمن ، انه سمع ابا هريرة ، وابا سعيد الخدري ، يقولان: إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم راى في القبلة نخامة، فتناول حصاة فحكها، ثم قال: " لا يتنخمن احدكم في القبلة، ولا عن يمينه، وليبصق عن يساره، او تحت رجله اليسرى" .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw phlegm stuck (on the wall) in the direction of the Qiblah, so he took a pebble and scraped it off with it. Then he said: No one should ever spit in the direction of the Qiblah, nor to his right side. He should spit to his left side or under his left foot.
