Section on Witr prayer – mentioning a report indicating that Witr is not a required duty
Hadith Number: 2410
اخبرنا عبد الله بن محمد بن سلم ، قال: حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن إبراهيم ، قال: حدثنا الوليد ، عن الاوزاعي ، عن الزهري ، عن عطاء بن يزيد الليثي ، عن ابي ايوب ، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " الوتر حق، فمن شاء فليوتر بخمس، ومن شاء فليوتر بثلاث، ومن شاء فليوتر بواحدة" .
Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "In the matter of Witr, whoever wishes may offer five Witr, whoever wishes may offer three, and whoever wishes may offer one Witr."
