باب الوتر - ذكر خبر ثان يدل على أن الوتر ليس بفرض
Section on Witr prayer – mentioning a second report indicating that Witr is not a required duty
Hadith Number: 2411
اخبرنا محمد بن الحسن بن قتيبة ، قال: حدثنا حرملة بن يحيى ، قال: حدثنا ابن وهب ، قال: اخبرنا يونس ، عن ابن شهاب ، قال: اخبرني عطاء بن يزيد الليثي ، انه سمع ابا ايوب الانصاري ، عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، انه قال: " الوتر حق، فمن احب ان يوتر بخمس فليوتر، ومن احب ان يوتر بثلاث فليوتر، ومن احب ان يوتر بواحدة فليوتر بها، ومن غلبه ذلك فليومئ إيماء" .
Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Witr is a right. Whoever wishes to perform five witr, let him perform them; and whoever wishes to perform three witr, let him perform them; and whoever wishes to perform one witr, let him perform it; and whoever is unable to perform them, let him perform them with gestures."
