Chapter on Sacrificial Animals – On the Command to Distribute the Sacrificial Animal to All, If It Is Slaughtered Due to Injury
Hadith Number: 4023
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، حدثنا ابو خيثمة ، حدثنا محمد بن خازم ، حدثنا هشام بن عروة ، عن ابيه ، عن ناجية الخزاعي وكان صاحب بدن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: قلت: يا رسول الله، كيف اصنع بما عطب من البدن؟، قال:" انحرها، ثم الق نعلها في دمها، ثم خل بينها وبين الناس، فلياكلوها" .
Sayyiduna Najiyah Khuzai (may Allah be pleased with him), who was the caretaker of the sacrificial animals of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), narrates: I asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What should I do with an animal among these sacrificial animals that becomes exhausted (or is about to die)?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Slaughter it, soak its collar in its blood, and leave it for the people; they will eat it themselves."
