Sa’d bin Ubaidah reports: I was present with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) when a man swore an oath by the name of the Ka’bah. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Woe to you, do not do so, for I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say:“Whoever swears an oath by other than Allah has indeed committed shirk (associating partners with Allah).”
