Benefits & Rulings:
➊ Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) also avoided narrating hadiths by directly attributing them to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) for the same reason as other Companions mentioned earlier—that they feared accidentally attributing words to the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he did not actually say.
➋ This does not mean that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) did not convey the religion. Rather, their method was different. They would inform people that a particular act is obligatory, another is prohibited, something is permissible, and another is better avoided. They would explain these rulings in the light of the hadiths they had heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), but they would generally not mention his name explicitly when doing so.
