The Book of Sales (Bargains)
باب النهي للبائع أن لا يحفل الإبل والبقر والغنم وكل محفلة:
(64) Chapter. The seller is not allowed to keep camels, cows, sheep or any other animal unmilked for a long time (so as to get more price by cheating).
Hadith Number: 2150
حدثنا عبد الله بن يوسف، اخبرنا مالك، عن ابي الزناد، عن الاعرج، عن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال:" لا تلقوا الركبان ولا يبع بعضكم على بيع بعض، ولا تناجشوا، ولا يبع حاضر لباد، ولا تصروا الغنم، ومن ابتاعها فهو بخير النظرين بعد ان يحتلبها، إن رضيها امسكها، وإن سخطها ردها وصاعا من تمر".
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Do not go forward to meet the caravan (to buy from it on the way before it reaches the town). And do not urge buyers to cancel their purchases to sell them (your own goods) yourselves, and do not practice Najsh. A town dweller should not sell the goods for the desert dweller. Do not leave sheep unmilked for a long time, when they are on sale, and whoever buys such an animal has the option of returning it, after milking it, along with a Sa of dates or keeping it. it has been kept unmilked for a long period by the seller (to deceive others).

Hadith Number: 2139
حدثنا إسماعيل، قال: حدثني مالك، عن نافع، عن عبد الله بن عمر رضي الله عنه، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال:" لا يبيع بعضكم على بيع اخيه".
Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "Do not urge somebody to return what he has already bought (i.e. in optional sale) from another seller so as to sell him your own goods."

Hadith Number: 2140
حدثنا علي بن عبد الله، حدثنا سفيان، حدثنا الزهري، عن سعيد بن المسيب، عن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه، قال:" نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ان يبيع حاضر لباد، ولا تناجشوا، ولا يبيع الرجل على بيع اخيه، ولا يخطب على خطبة اخيه، ولا تسال المراة طلاق اختها لتكفا ما في إنائها".
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle forbade the selling of things by a town dweller on behalf of a desert dweller; and similarly Najsh was forbidden. And one should not urge somebody to return the goods to the seller so as to sell him his own goods; nor should one demand the hand of a girl who has already been engaged to someone else; and a woman should not try to cause some other woman to be divorced in order to take her place.

Hadith Number: 2158
حدثنا الصلت بن محمد، حدثنا عبد الواحد، حدثنا معمر، عن عبد الله بن طاوس، عن ابيه، عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنه، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:" لا تلقوا الركبان، ولا يبيع حاضر لباد"، قال: فقلت لابن عباس: ما قوله لا يبيع حاضر لباد؟ قال: لا يكون له سمسارا.
Narrated Tawus: Ibn `Abbas said, "Allah's Apostle said, 'Do not go to meet the caravans on the way (for buying their goods without letting them know the market price); a town dweller should not sell the goods of a desert dweller on behalf of the latter.' I asked Ibn `Abbas, 'What does he mean by not selling the goods of a desert dweller by a town dweller?' He said, 'He should not become his broker.' "

Hadith Number: 2159
حدثني عبد الله بن صباح، حدثنا ابو علي الحنفي، عن عبد الرحمن بن عبد الله بن دينار، قال: حدثني ابي، عن عبد الله بن عمررضي الله عنه، قال:" نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ان يبيع حاضر لباد"، وبه قال ابن عباس.
Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: Allah's Apostle forbade the selling of the goods of a desert dweller by a town person.

Hadith Number: 2160
حدثنا المكي بن إبراهيم، قال: اخبرني ابن جريج، عن ابن شهاب، عن سعيد بن المسيب، انه سمع ابا هريرة رضي الله عنه، يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:" لا يبتاع المرء على بيع اخيه، ولا تناجشوا، ولا يبع حاضر لباد".
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "A buyer should not urge a seller to restore a purchase so as to buy it himself, and do not practice Najsh; and a town dweller should not sell goods of a desert dweller."

Hadith Number: 2161
حدثنا محمد بن المثنى، حدثنا معاذ، حدثنا ابن عون، عن محمد، قال انس بن مالك رضي الله عنه" نهينا ان يبيع حاضر لباد".
Narrated Anas bin Malik: We were forbidden that a town dweller should sell goods of a desert dweller.

Hadith Number: 2162
حدثنا محمد بن بشار، حدثنا عبد الوهاب، حدثنا عبيد الله العمري، عن سعيد بن ابي سعيد، عن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه، قال:" نهى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عن التلقي، وان يبيع حاضر لباد".
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet forbade the meeting (of caravans) on the way and the selling of goods by an inhabitant of the town on behalf of a desert dweller.

Hadith Number: 2164
حدثنا مسدد، حدثنا يزيد بن زريع، قال: حدثني التيمي، عن ابي عثمان، عن عبد الله رضي الله عنه، قال: من اشترى محفلة فليرد معها صاعا، قال:" ونهى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عن تلقي البيوع".
Narrated `Abdullah: Whoever buys an animal which has been kept unmilked for a long time, could return it, but has to pay a Sa of dates along with it. And the Prophet forbade meeting the owners of goods on the way away from the market.

Hadith Number: 2165
حدثنا عبد الله بن يوسف، اخبرنا مالك، عن نافع، عن عبد الله بن عمر رضي الله عنه، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال:" لا يبيع بعضكم على بيع بعض، ولا تلقوا السلع حتى يهبط بها إلى السوق".
Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "You should not try to cancel the purchases of one another (to get a benefit thereof), and do not go ahead to meet the caravan (for buying the goods) (but wait) till it reaches the market."

Hadith Number: 2274
حدثنا مسدد، حدثنا عبد الواحد، حدثنا معمر، عن ابن طاوس، عن ابيه، عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنه،" نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ان يتلقى الركبان، ولا يبيع حاضر لباد"، قلت: يا ابن عباس، ما قوله لا يبيع حاضر لباد، قال: لا يكون له سمسارا.
Narrated Tawus: Ibn `Abbas said, "The Prophet forbade the meeting of caravans (on the way) and ordained that no townsman is permitted to sell things on behalf of a bedouin." I asked Ibn `Abbas, "What is the meaning of his saying, 'No townsman is permitted to sell things on behalf of a bedouin.' " He replied, "He should not work as a broker for him."

Hadith Number: 2723
حدثنا مسدد، حدثنا يزيد بن زريع، حدثنا معمر، عن الزهري، عن سعيد، عن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال:" لا يبع حاضر لباد، ولا تناجشوا، ولا يزيدن على بيع اخيه، ولا يخطبن على خطبته، ولا تسال المراة طلاق اختها لتستكفئ إناءها".
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "No town-dweller should sell for a bedouin. Do not practice Najsh (i.e. Do not offer a high price for a thing which you do not want to buy, in order to deceive the people). No Muslim should offer more for a thing already bought by his Muslim brother, nor should he demand the hand of a girl already engaged to another Muslim. A Muslim woman shall not try to bring about The divorce of her sister (i.e. another Muslim woman) in order to take her place herself."

Hadith Number: 2727
حدثنا محمد بن عرعرة، حدثنا شعبة، عن عدي بن ثابت، عن ابي حازم، عن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه، قال:" نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن التلقي، وان يبتاع المهاجر للاعرابي، وان تشترط المراة طلاق اختها، وان يستام الرجل على سوم اخيه، ونهى عن النجش، وعن التصرية". تابعه معاذ، وعبد الصمد، عن شعبة، وقال غندر، وعبد الرحمن نهي. وقال آدم: نهينا. وقال النضر، وحجاج بن منهال: نهى.
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle forbade (1) the meeting of the caravan (of goods) on the way, (2) and that a residing person buys for a bedouin, (3) and that a woman stipulates the divorce of the wife of the would-be husband, (4) and that a man tries to cause the cancellation of a bargain concluded by another. He also forbade An-Najsh (see Hadith 824) and that one withholds the milk in the udder of the animal so that he may deceive people on selling it.

Hadith Number: 5142
حدثنا مكي بن إبراهيم، حدثنا ابن جريج، قال: سمعت نافعا يحدث ان ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما، كان يقول:" نهى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ان يبيع بعضكم على بيع بعض، ولا يخطب الرجل على خطبة اخيه حتى يترك الخاطب قبله، او ياذن له الخاطب".
Narrated Ibn `Umar: The Prophet decreed that one should not try to cancel a bargain already agreed upon between some other persons (by offering a bigger price). And a man should not ask for the hand of a girl who is already engaged to his Muslim brother, unless the first suitor gives her up, or allows him to ask for her hand.

Hadith Number: 6065
حدثنا ابو اليمان، اخبرنا شعيب، عن الزهري، قال: حدثني انس بن مالك رضي الله عنه، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال:" لا تباغضوا ولا تحاسدوا ولا تدابروا وكونوا عباد الله إخوانا، ولا يحل لمسلم ان يهجر اخاه فوق ثلاثة ايام".
Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Apostle said, "Do not hate one another, and do not be jealous of one another, and do not desert each other, and O, Allah's worshipers! Be brothers. Lo! It is not permissible for any Muslim to desert (not talk to) his brother (Muslim) for more than three days."

Hadith Number: 6076
حدثنا عبد الله بن يوسف، اخبرنا مالك، عن ابن شهاب، عن انس بن مالك، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال:" لا تباغضوا ولا تحاسدوا ولا تدابروا وكونوا عباد الله إخوانا، ولا يحل لمسلم ان يهجر اخاه فوق ثلاث ليال".
Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Apostle said, "Do not hate one another, nor be jealous of one another; and do not desert one another, but O Allah's worshipers! Be Brothers! And it is unlawful for a Muslim to desert his brother Muslim (and not to talk to him) for more than three nights."
