The Book of As-Salat (The Prayer)
باب لا يبصق عن يمينه فى الصلاة:
(35) Chapter. It is forbidden to spit on the right side while in Salat (prayers).
Hadith Number: 412
حدثنا حفص بن عمر، قال: حدثنا شعبة، قال: اخبرني قتادة، قال: سمعت انس بن مالك، قال: قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم:"لا يتفلن احدكم بين يديه ولا عن يمينه، ولكن عن يساره او تحت رجله".
Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, "None of you should spit in front or on his right but he could spit either on his left or under his foot."

Hadith Number: 241
حدثنا محمد بن يوسف، قال: حدثنا سفيان، عن حميد، عن انس، قال:" بزق النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في ثوبه"، طوله ابن ابي مريم، قال: اخبرنا يحيى بن ايوب، حدثني حميد، قال: سمعت انسا، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم.
Narrated Anas: The Prophet once spat in his clothes.

Hadith Number: 405
حدثنا قتيبة، قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن جعفر، عن حميد، عن انس، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم راى نخامة في القبلة، فشق ذلك عليه حتى رئي في وجهه، فقام فحكه بيده، فقال:" إن احدكم إذا قام في صلاته فإنه يناجي ربه او إن ربه بينه وبين القبلة، فلا يبزقن احدكم قبل قبلته، ولكن عن يساره او تحت قدميه، ثم اخذ طرف ردائه فبصق فيه، ثم رد بعضه على بعض، فقال: او يفعل هكذا".
Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet saw some sputum in the direction of the Qibla (on the wall of the mosque) and he disliked that and the sign of disgust was apparent from his face. So he got up and scraped it off with his hand and said, "Whenever anyone of you stands for the prayer, he is speaking in private to his Lord or his Lord is between him and his Qibla. So, none of you should spit in the direction of the Qibla but one can spit to the left or under his foot." The Prophet then took the corner of his sheet and spat in it and folded it and said, "Or you can do this. "

Hadith Number: 406
حدثنا عبد الله بن يوسف، قال: اخبرنا مالك، عن نافع، عن عبد الله بن عمر، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم راى بصاقا في جدار القبلة فحكه، ثم اقبل على الناس، فقال:" إذا كان احدكم يصلي فلا يبصق قبل وجهه، فإن الله قبل وجهه إذا صلى".
Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: Allah's Apostle saw sputum on the wall of the mosque in the direction of the Qibla and scraped it off. He faced the people and said, "Whenever any one of you is praying, he should not spit in front of him because in the prayer Allah is in front of him."

Hadith Number: 407
حدثنا عبد الله بن يوسف، قال: اخبرنا مالك، عن هشام بن عروة، عن ابيه، عن عائشة ام المؤمنين،" ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم راى في جدار القبلة مخاطا او بصاقا او نخامة فحكه".
Narrated `Aisha: (the mother of faithful believers) Allah's Apostle saw some nasal secretions, expectoration or sputum on the wall of the mosque in the direction of the Qibla and scraped it off.

Hadith Number: 409
حدثنا موسى بن إسماعيل، قال: اخبرنا إبراهيم بن سعد، اخبرنا ابن شهاب، عن حميد بن عبد الرحمن، ان ابا هريرة، وابا سعيد حدثاه، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم راى نخامة في جدار المسجد، فتناول حصاة فحكها، فقال:" إذا تنخم احدكم، فلا يتنخمن قبل وجهه، ولا عن يمينه، وليبصق عن يساره او تحت قدمه اليسرى".
Narrated Abu Huraira and Abu Sa`id: Allah's Apostle saw some expectoration on the wall of the mosque; he took gravel and scraped it off and said, "If anyone of you wanted to spit he should neither spit in front of him nor on his right but he could spit either on his left or under his left foot."

Hadith Number: 411
حدثنا يحيى بن بكير، قال: حدثنا الليث، عن عقيل، عن ابن شهاب، عن حميد بن عبد الرحمن، ان ابا هريرة، وابا سعيد اخبراه، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم راى نخامة في حائط المسجد، فتناول رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حصاة فحتها، ثم قال:" إذا تنخم احدكم فلا يتنخم قبل وجهه، ولا عن يمينه، وليبصق عن يساره او تحت قدمه اليسرى".

Hadith Number: 413
حدثنا آدم، قال: حدثنا شعبة، قال: حدثنا قتادة، قال: سمعت انس بن مالك، قال: قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم:" إن المؤمن إذا كان في الصلاة فإنما يناجي ربه، فلا يبزقن بين يديه ولا عن يمينه، ولكن عن يساره او تحت قدمه".
Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said, "A faithful believer while in prayer is speaking in private to his Lord, so he should neither spit in front of him nor to his right side but he could spit either on his left or under his foot."

Hadith Number: 414
حدثنا علي، قال: حدثنا سفيان، حدثنا الزهري، عن حميد بن عبد الرحمن، عن ابي سعيد، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ابصر نخامة في قبلة المسجد فحكها بحصاة، ثم" نهى ان يبزق الرجل بين يديه او عن يمينه، ولكن عن يساره او تحت قدمه اليسرى"، وعن الزهري، سمع حميدا، عن ابي سعيد نحوه.
Narrated Abu Sa`id: The Prophet saw sputum on (the wall of) the mosque in the direction of the Qibla and scraped it off with gravel. Then he forbade Spitting in front or on the right, but allowed it on one's left or under one's left foot.

Hadith Number: 416
حدثنا إسحاق بن نصر، قال: حدثنا عبد الرزاق، عن معمر، عن همام، سمع ابا هريرة، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال:"إذا قام احدكم إلى الصلاة فلا يبصق امامه، فإنما يناجي الله ما دام في مصلاه ولا عن يمينه، فإن عن يمينه ملكا، وليبصق عن يساره او تحت قدمه فيدفنها".
Narrated Abu Huraira: Prophet said, "If anyone of you stands for prayer, he should not spit in front of him because in prayer he is speaking in private to Allah and he should not spit on his right as there is an angel, but he can spit either on his left or under his left foot and bury it (i.e. expectoration).

Hadith Number: 417
حدثنا مالك بن إسماعيل، قال: حدثنا زهير، قال: حدثنا حميد، عن انس، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم راى نخامة في القبلة فحكها بيده، ورئي منه كراهية او رئي كراهيته لذلك، وشدته عليه، وقال:" إن احدكم إذا قام في صلاته فإنما يناجي ربه او ربه بينه وبين قبلته، فلا يبزقن في قبلته، ولكن عن يساره او تحت قدمه، ثم اخذ طرف ردائه فبزق فيه ورد بعضه على بعض، قال: او يفعل هكذا".
Narrated Anas: The Prophet saw expectoration (on the wall of the mosque) in the direction of the Qibla and scraped it off with his hand. It seemed that he disliked it and the sign of disgust was apparent from his face. He said, "If anyone of you stands for the prayer, he is speaking in private to his Lord, (or) his Lord is between him and his Qibla, therefore he should not spit towards his Qibla, but he could spit either on his left or under his foot." Then he took the corner of his sheet and spat in it, folded it and said, "Or do this."

Hadith Number: 531
حدثنا مسلم بن إبراهيم، قال: حدثنا هشام، عن قتادة، عن انس، قال: قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم:" إن احدكم إذا صلى يناجي ربه، فلا يتفلن عن يمينه، ولكن تحت قدمه اليسرى"، وقال سعيد: عن قتادة، لا يتفل قدامه او بين يديه، ولكن عن يساره او تحت قدميه، وقال شعبة: لا يبزق بين يديه ولا عن يمينه، ولكن عن يساره او تحت قدمه، وقال حميد: عن انس، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، لا يبزق في القبلة ولا عن يمينه، ولكن عن يساره او تحت قدمه.
Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, "Whenever anyone of you offers his prayer he is speaking in private to his Lord. So he should not spit to his right but under his left foot." Qatada said, "He should not spit in front of him but to his left or under his feet." And Shu`ba said, "He should not spit in front of him, nor to his right but to his left or under his foot." Anas said: The Prophet said, "He should neither spit in the direction of his Qibla nor to his right but to his left or under his foot."

Hadith Number: 753
حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد، قال: حدثنا ليث، عن نافع، عن ابن عمر، انه قال: راى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم نخامة في قبلة المسجد وهو يصلي بين يدي الناس، فحتها، ثم قال حين انصرف:" إن احدكم إذا كان في الصلاة فإن الله قبل وجهه، فلا يتنخمن احد قبل وجهه في الصلاة"، رواه موسى بن عقبة، وابن ابي رواد، عن نافع.
Narrated Ibn `Umar: The Prophet saw expectoration in the direction of the Qibla of the mosque while he was leading the prayer, and scratched it off. After finishing the prayer, he said, "Whenever any of you is in prayer he should know that Allah is in front of him. So none should spit in front of him in the prayer."

Hadith Number: 1213
حدثنا سليمان بن حرب، حدثنا حماد، عن ايوب، عن نافع، عن ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما،" ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم راى نخامة في قبلة المسجد فتغيظ على اهل المسجد وقال: إن الله قبل احدكم، فإذا كان في صلاته فلا يبزقن او قال لا يتنخمن، ثم نزل فحتها بيده"، وقال ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما: إذا بزق احدكم فليبزق على يساره.
Narrated Ibn `Umar: The Prophet saw some sputum on the wall facing the Qibla of the mosque and became furious with the people of the mosque and said, "During the prayer, Allah is in front of everyone of you and so he should not spit (or said, 'He should not expectorate')." Then he got down and scratched the sputum with his hand. Ibn `Umar said (after narrating), "If anyone of you has to spit during the prayer, he should spit to his left."

Hadith Number: 1214
حدثنا محمد، حدثنا غندر، حدثنا شعبة , قال: سمعت قتادة، عن انس رضي الله عنه، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم , قال:" إذا كان في الصلاة فإنه يناجي ربه، فلا يبزقن بين يديه ولا عن يمينه، ولكن عن شماله تحت قدمه اليسرى".
Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, "Whenever anyone of you is in prayer, he is speaking in private to his Lord and so he should neither spit in front of him nor on his right side but to his left side under his left foot."
حكم: أحاديث صحيح البخاريّ كلّها صحيحة
Hadith Number: 6111
حدثنا موسى بن إسماعيل، حدثنا جويرية، عن نافع، عن عبد الله رضي الله عنه، قال: بينا النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يصلي راى في قبلة المسجد نخامة فحكها بيده فتغيظ، ثم قال" إن احدكم إذا كان في الصلاة، فإن الله حيال وجهه، فلا يتنخمن حيال وجهه في الصلاة".
Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: While the Prophet was praying, he saw sputum (on the wall) of the mosque, in the direction of the Qibla, and so he scraped it off with his hand, and the sign of disgust (was apparent from his face) and then said, "Whenever anyone of you is in prayer, he should not spit in front of him (in prayer) because Allah is in front of him."
