Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you know what thing will cause people to enter the Fire the most?" The people said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He (peace be upon him) said: "The two hollow things: the private parts and the mouth. And what will cause people to enter Paradise the most is the fear of Allah and good character."

It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with her), she says that Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) got up at night and prayed, then began to weep and was saying: O Allah, You have made my appearance good, so make my character good as well. He kept making this supplication until morning. I said: O Abu Darda’! You have been supplicating for good character all night. He said: Umm Darda’! If a Muslim servant’s character is good, his character will admit him to Paradise, and if his character is bad, it will admit him to the Fire. And when a Muslim servant is asleep, he is forgiven. I said: O Abu Darda’! How is a sleeping person forgiven? He said: His brother gets up at night and prays Tahajjud, then supplicates to Allah Almighty, and his supplication is accepted, and he supplicates for his brother, so the supplication he makes for his brother is also accepted.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Usama bin Sharik (may Allah be pleased with him) that I was present with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) (on the occasion of Hajj) and the Bedouins came. Many people came from this side and many from that side. The people became silent and no one was speaking except them. They said: O Messenger of Allah! Is there any sin in doing such and such things? They mentioned many such matters to the people in which there was no harm in doing them. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Allah the Exalted has removed hardship and difficulty. However, whoever unjustly eats someone’s flesh, he remains in hardship and is destroyed." They asked: O Messenger of Allah! Can we use medicine? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O servants of Allah! Seek treatment, for indeed Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has sent down a cure for every disease He has sent down, except for one disease." They said: O Messenger of Allah! What is that disease? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Old age." They submitted: O Messenger of Allah! What is the best and most excellent thing given to man? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Good character."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was the most generous of all people, and he was most generous at the time when Jibreel Amin (peace be upon him) would meet him during Ramadan. Jibreel (peace be upon him) would meet him every night of Ramadan, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite the Qur'an with him. And when Jibreel (peace be upon him) met him, he (peace and blessings be upon him) was more generous than the fast wind.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Mas’ud Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“The account of a man from among the people before you was taken, and in his record of deeds there was no good deed except that he used to associate with people and was well-off. So he used to order his servants to overlook (the debts) of those in difficulty. Allah, the Exalted, said: We are more deserving of this (forgiveness and forbearance) than he is, so He forgave him.”
