Sa’sa’ah bin Mu’awiyah said: I met Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) who was taking his camel and had a water-skin hanging from his neck. I asked,“O Abu Dharr! What is this? What has happened to you?”He replied,“This is my work.”I asked again,“What has happened to you?”He again replied,“This is my work.”I said,“Narrate to me a hadith which you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).”He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying:“Whoever among the Muslims spends a pair (of something) in the way of Allah, the gatekeepers of Paradise will hasten to welcome him.”

In the narration of Nasa’i, it is stated:“The gatekeepers of Paradise will call him towards themselves (to enter through their gate).”Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: By ‘pair’ is meant: two dirhams, or two slave girls, two slaves, or two riding animals.
