Abu Qilabah narrated marfu'an that whoever is present at the beginning (opening) of the Holy Qur'an, it is as if he was present at the conquest in the way of Allah, and whoever is present at the completion of the Qur'an, it is as if he was present at the distribution of spoils.

Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A person was reciting (the Qur'an) in the mosque of Madinah Munawwarah. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) appointed a man to wait for him. When he was informed that the recitation of the Qur'an had been completed, Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) got up and went to him. (That is, he joined the reciter to participate in the completion of the Qur'an. From this, the virtue of attending the completion of the Qur'an is known.)

When Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) would approach the completion of the Qur'an, he would leave a small portion of the Qur'an until the time of true dawn, then he would gather his family and complete the Qur'an with them.

Thabit al-Banani said: Whenever Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) completed the recitation of the Noble Qur'an, he would gather his children and family members and supplicate for all of them.

Abdah said: When a person completes the Holy Qur'an during the day, the angels pray for him until the evening, and if he finishes his recitation at night, the angels pray for him until the morning.

It is narrated from Zurara bin Abi Awfa that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was asked: Which deed is the best? He replied: "Al-Hil (encampment) and Al-Irtihal (departure)." It was asked: What is this? He said: "The one who recites the Qur'an from beginning to end (this is al-hil), then after completing it, starts again (this is al-irtihal); whenever he finishes, he starts again."

Ibrahim al-Nakha'i, may Allah have mercy on him, said: When a person recites the Qur'an at the beginning of the day, the angels supplicate for him until the evening, and if he recites (i.e., completes) it at night, the angels supplicate for him until the morning. (A'mash) Sulaiman said: For this reason, we saw our contemporaries among our companions preferred to complete the Qur'an at the beginning of the day and at the beginning of the night.

With this chain as well, it is narrated from Ibrahim al-Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) as previously, but in this there is no statement of Sulaiman al-A'mash.

Muharib bin Dithar, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Whoever recites the Qur'an by heart, for him there is an invitation in this world and the Hereafter.

Talha and Abdur Rahman bin Al-Aswad both said: Whoever recites the Holy Qur'an during the night or day, the angels pray for him until the night; the other said: He is forgiven.
