باب التَّغَنِّي بِالْقُرْآنِ:
Chapter on reciting the Quran melodiously
Hadith Number: 3520
حدثنا ابو الوليد الطيالسي، حدثنا ليث بن سعد، حدثنا ابن ابي مليكة، عن ابن ابي نهيك، عن سعد بن ابي وقاص: ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: "ليس منا من لم يتغن بالقرآن". قال ابن عيينة: يستغني، قال ابو محمد: الناس يقولون: عبيد الله بن ابي نهيك.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Whoever does not recite the Qur’an in a melodious voice is not from among us.”Ibn ‘Uyaynah said: By «لم يتغن» is meant «يستغني» . Abu Muhammad Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: People call Abu Nuhaik as ‘Ubaydullah bin Abi Nuhaik.

Hadith Number: 3521
حدثنا جعفر بن عون، انبانا مسعر، عن عبد الكريم، عن طاوس، قال: سئل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: اي الناس احسن صوتا للقرآن، واحسن قراءة؟ قال: "من إذا سمعته يقرا، اريت انه يخشى الله"، قال طاوس: وكان طلق كذلك.
It is narrated from Tawoos (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: Which person has a good voice for the Qur'an? Or who is the best reciter? He replied: "The one whom, when you hear him reciting, it seems as if he fears Allah." Tawoos (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Taliq was like this.

Hadith Number: 3522
حدثنا عبد الله بن صالح، حدثني الليث، حدثني عقيل، عن ابن شهاب، حدثني ابو سلمة، عن ابي هريرة، انه كان يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: "لم ياذن الله لشيء، ما اذن لنبي يتغنى بالقرآن"، قال صاحب له: اراد: يجهر به.
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty has not listened to anything as attentively as He listened to His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting the Noble Qur'an in the best voice." The student of Abu Salama said: What he meant was reciting the Qur'an in a loud voice.

Hadith Number: 3523
حدثنا عبد الله بن صالح، حدثنا الليث، حدثني يونس، عن ابن شهاب، قال: اخبرني ابو سلمة، ان ابا هريرة، قال: "ما اذن الله لشيء، كما اذن لنبي يتغنى بالقرآن".
It is narrated through this chain in the same manner as mentioned above.

Hadith Number: 3524
حدثنا عبد الله بن صالح، حدثني الليث، حدثني يونس، عن ابن شهاب، قال: اخبرني ابو سلمة بن عبد الرحمن: ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يقول لابي موسى وكان حسن الصوت بالقرآن: "لقد اوتي هذا من مزامير آل داود".
Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to say about Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari, may Allah be pleased with him, who recited the Qur'an with a very beautiful voice: "He has been given a voice like that of Dawud (David), peace be upon him."

Hadith Number: 3525
حدثنا حدثنا عبد الله بن صالح، حدثني الليث، حدثني يونس، عن ابن شهاب، قال: حدثني ابو سلمة ايضا: ان عمر بن الخطاب كان إذا راى ابا موسى، قال: "ذكرنا ربنا يا ابا موسى، فيقرا عنده".
Abu Salamah narrated that whenever Sayyiduna Umar bin Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) saw Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him), he would say: "O Abu Musa! Remind us of our Lord," so he would recite the Qur'an to them.

Hadith Number: 3526
حدثنا جعفر بن عون، حدثنا إبراهيم الهجري، عن ابي الاحوص، عن عبد الله، قال: "لا الفين احدكم يضع إحدى رجليه على الاخرى يتغنى ويدع ان يقرا سورة البقرة، فإن الشيطان يفر من البيت يقرا فيه سورة البقرة، وإن اصفر البيوت الجوف، يصفر من كتاب الله".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I do not want to find any of you reclining with one leg over the other, singing the Qur'an and neglecting Surah Al-Baqarah. Indeed, Satan flees from the house in which Surah Al-Baqarah is recited, and indeed, deserted houses are those in which the Book of Allah is not recited.

Hadith Number: 3527
اخبرنا سليمان بن حرب، حدثنا حماد بن زيد، عن ايوب، قال: حدثني بعض آل سالم بن عبد الله، قال: "قدم سلمة البيذق المدينة، فقام يصلي بهم، فقيل لسالم: لو جئت فسمعت قراءته، فلما كان بباب المسجد، سمع قراءته، رجع فقال: غناء غناء".
Someone from the household of Salim bin Abdullah, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Salim al-Baydhaq came to Madinah Tayyibah and started leading the prayer. So Salim, may Allah have mercy on him, was asked: If only you would also go and listen to his recitation. Thus, when Salim bin Abdullah reached the door and heard his recitation, he turned back and said: It is singing, singing.

Hadith Number: 3528
حدثنا حدثنا ابو عاصم، عن ابن جريج، عن ابن شهاب، عن ابي سلمة:"ان ابا موسى كان ياتي عمر، فيقول له عمر: ذكرنا ربنا، فيقرا عنده".
Ibn Shihab Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated from Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman that Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) used to come to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), so the Commander of the Faithful would say to him: Remind us of our Lord. Thus, he would recite (the Qur'an) to him.

Hadith Number: 3529
حدثنا يزيد بن هارون، حدثنا محمد هو ابن عمرو، عن ابي سلمة، عن ابي هريرة، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: "ما اذن الله لشيء، كاذنه لنبي يتغنى بالقرآن يجهر به".
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Allah has not permitted anyone as He has permitted a Prophet (meaning Muhammad, peace be upon him) to recite the Qur'an with a beautiful voice," that is, He has permitted reciting the Qur'an aloud.
