It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I participated with my uncles—while I was still young—in the Hilf al-Mutayyibeen, which is also called Hilf al-Fudul. I would not like to break this agreement even if I were given red camels in exchange for it."

Imam Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: "Every treaty that Islam has made, its severity has only increased, and Islam does not advocate this." However, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) established brotherhood between the Quraysh and the Ansar.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him, "O boy! Have you heard this issue from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) or from any companion, that if a person has doubt in his prayer, what should he do?" While this conversation was taking place, Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) was seen coming from the front. He asked, "What are you discussing?" Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I was asking this boy whether he has heard this issue from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) or from any companion, that if a person has doubt in his prayer, what should he do?" Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'If any of you has doubt in his prayer and does not remember whether he has prayed one rak'ah or two, then he should count it as one rak'ah. If he doubts between two and three, he should consider them as two. If he doubts between three and four, he should count them as three. After that, upon completing the prayer, before saying salam, he should perform two prostrations of forgetfulness (sujood as-sahw).'"

Bajalah says: I was the scribe of Ahnaf bin Qais’s uncle, Juz’ bin Mu’awiyah. A letter from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reached us one year before his death, in which it was written:“Kill every sorcerer. Separate those among the Magians who have married their close relatives, and prevent them from reciting Zamzamah (the low voice recitation the Magians used to do while eating).”So we killed three sorcerers, and in the light of the Book of Allah, we began the process of separating a man from his forbidden wife. Then Juz’ once had a large amount of food prepared, placed his sword on his thigh, and invited the Magians to eat. They brought and piled up silver equal to the weight of one or two mules, and ate the food without reciting Zamzamah. Also, previously Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) did not take jizyah from the Magians, but when Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) testified that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had taken jizyah from the Magians of the region called Hajar, then he also began to take jizyah from the Magians. Sufyan says that Bajalah performed Hajj with Mus’ab in the year 70 AH.

On one occasion, Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf, Sayyiduna Talha, Sayyiduna Zubair, and Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with them all): I ask you by Allah, by whose command the heavens and the earth are established, do you know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Inheritance is not established in our wealth; whatever we leave behind is all charity”? They replied in the affirmative.

Abdullah bin Qariz once went to visit Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) when he had fallen ill. Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "It is kinship that has brought you here. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Allah Almighty says: I am the Most Merciful (Rahman), I created the womb (rahm) and derived its name from My Name. Whoever maintains it, I will maintain ties with him, and whoever severs it, I will cut him off and shatter him.'"

Nadr bin Shaiban says that once I met Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman. I said to him: Tell me a hadith from your father which he himself heard from the Prophet (peace be upon him), and that too about the month of Ramadan. He said: Alright, my father narrated this hadith from the Prophet (peace be upon him): "Allah Almighty has made the fasting of Ramadan obligatory, and I have declared its night prayer (Qiyam) as Sunnah. Whoever fasts in Ramadan with faith and seeking reward, and performs the night prayer (Tarawih), will come out of sins as a newborn child comes out from its mother."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any woman who offers her five daily prayers, fasts in the month of Ramadan, guards her chastity, and obeys her husband, it will be said to her: Enter Paradise through whichever gate you wish."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out, and I followed behind him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered a garden, and there he began to pray. He performed such a long prostration that I began to fear that perhaps his soul had been taken. I moved forward to see, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) raised his head and said: "Abdur Rahman! What happened?" I mentioned my concern. Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Jibreel said to me: Shall I not give you glad tidings? Allah Almighty says that whoever sends blessings upon you, I will send My mercy upon him, and whoever sends peace upon you, I will send peace upon him, that is, I will grant him safety."

The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
