مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ مَثَلُ السُّنْبُلَةِ
The example of the believer is like the ear of grain
Hadith Number: 1360
1360 - اخبرنا ابو عبد الله محمد بن الفضل الفراء، ثنا العباس بن حمد بن نصر، ثنا حفص بن عمر بن الصباح، ثنا احمد بن عبد الله بن يونس، ثنا ابو بكر بن عياش، عن الاعمش، عن عطاء، عن جابر، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «مثل المؤمن مثل السنبلة تحركها الريح فتقوم مرة وتقع اخرى، ومثل الكافر مثل الارزة لا تزال قائمة حتى تنقعر»
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "The example of a believer is like that of a stalk (of grain) which the wind moves; sometimes it stands upright and sometimes it falls down. And the example of a disbeliever is like that of a pine tree which always stands straight until it is uprooted all at once."

Hadith Number: 1361
1361 - اخبرنا ابو محمد عبد الرحمن بن عمر، ابنا احمد بن إبراهيم بن جامع، ثنا علي بن عبد العزيز، ثنا احمد بن يونس، بإسناده قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «مثل المؤمن مثل الخامة من الزرع يحركها الريح يقيمها مرة ويصرعها اخرى» ، وذكر بقية الحديث
It is narrated through another chain that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The example of a believer is like a young plant of a crop, which the wind moves; sometimes it makes it stand upright and sometimes it bends it down." And he narrated the rest of the hadith as well.

Hadith Number: 1362
1362 - وانا ابو محمد التجيبي، ايضا انا موسى بن جعفر بن سنان الدورقي، انا محمد بن جعفر هو ابن الإمام، نا احمد بن يونس، نا ابو بكر بن عياش، بإسناده قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «مثل المؤمن مثل السنبلة يحركها الريح فمرة تقع ومرة تقوم، ومثل الكافر مثل الارزة فإن الارزة لا تزال قائمة حتى تنقعر»
It is narrated with another chain that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The example of a believer is like that of a stalk, which the wind moves; sometimes it falls down and sometimes it stands upright. And the example of a disbeliever is like that of a pine tree; indeed, the pine always stands upright until (at once) it is uprooted."

1363 - انا محمد بن الحسين النيسابوري، انا القاضي ابو طاهر، نا إبراهيم بن شريك بن الفضل الاسدي، نا احمد بن يونس، نا ابو بكر بن عياش، عن الاعمش، عن عطاء، عن جابر، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «مثل المؤمن مثل السنبلة يحركها الريح فتقع مرة وتقوم اخرى، ومثل الكافر مثل الارزة او الارزنة لا تزال قائمة حتى تنقعر»
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“The example of a believer is like that of a stalk of grain which the wind moves; sometimes it bends down and sometimes it stands upright. And the example of a disbeliever is like that of a pine or cedar tree (a hard type of tree from which sticks and the like are made) which always stands straight until (suddenly, all at once) it is uprooted.”

1364 - وانا ابو محمد التجيبي، نا ابن الاعرابي، انا علي بن عبد العزيز، انا ابو عبيد، نا ابن مهدي، عن سفيان، عن سعد بن إبراهيم، عن ابن كعب بن مالك، عن ابيه، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم انه قال: «مثل المؤمن مثل الخامة من الزرع يميلها الريح مرة هكذا ومرة هكذا، ومثل المنافق مثل الارزة المجذية على الارض حتى يكون انجعافها مرة» قال ابو عمرو: الارزة بفتح الراء من شجر الارزن، قال ابو عبيد: الارزة مثل فاعلة الثابتة، قال ابو عبيد: الارزة بسكون الراء من شجر الارز وهو الصنوبر، والمجذية الثابتة، والإنجعاف الإنقلاع، ويقال بالخاء
Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of a believer is like a tender plant of a crop which the winds keep bending this way and that, and the example of a hypocrite is like a pine tree which stands straight on the ground until it is uprooted all at once." Abu Amr said: «ارزہ» is with a fatha on the ra and it is from «ارزن» . Abu Ubaid said: The pronunciation of «ارزہ» is like «فاعلہ» . Abu Ubaid also said that «ارزہ» is with a sukoon on the ra and it is the tree of pine. The meaning of «المجدیہ» is: straight. The meaning of «انجعاف» is: to be uprooted. And it is also said that the word «انجعاف» is with a kha instead of a jeem, «انخعاف» .

1365 - حدثنا نصر بن عبد العزيز الفارسي، لفظا من كتابه، انا ابو نصر احمد بن محمد بن حسنون، نا ابن البختري الرزاز، نا احمد بن عبيد الله بن المنادي، نا إسحاق بن يوسف الازرق، نا زكريا، عن سعد بن إبراهيم، عن ابي بن كعب، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «مثل المؤمن مثل الخامة من الزرع يقلبها الريح تصرعها مرة وتعدلها اخرى، ومثل الكافر مثل الارزة المجذية لا يفك اصلها حتى يكون انجعافها مرة واحدة»
Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b رضي الله عنه narrates from the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم that he صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "The example of a believer is like a young plant of a crop which the winds keep turning this way and that; sometimes it is bent down and sometimes it is made straight. And the example of a disbeliever is like a pine tree which stands straight, its root is not separated (from the ground) until it is uprooted all at once."
