باب أَمْرِ الأَئِمَّةِ بِتَخْفِيفِ الصَّلاَةِ فِي تَمَامٍ:
Chapter: The Command To The Imam To Make The Prayer Brief But Complete

وحدثنا يحيى بن يحيى ، اخبرنا هشيم ، عن إسماعيل بن ابي خالد ، عن قيس ، عن ابي مسعود الانصاري ، قال: " جاء رجل إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: إني لاتاخر عن صلاة الصبح من اجل فلان، مما يطيل بنا، فما رايت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم غضب في موعظة قط، اشد مما غضب يومئذ، فقال: يا ايها الناس، إن منكم منفرين، فايكم ام الناس فليوجز، فإن من ورائه الكبير، والضعيف، وذا الحاجة "،
Abu Mas'ud al-Ainsari reported: A person came to the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) and said: I keep away from the morning prayer on account of such and such (a man), because; he keeps us so long. I never saw God's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) more angry when giving an exhortation than he was that day. He said: O people, some of you are scaring people away. So whoever of you leads the people in prayer he must be brief, for behind him are the weak, the aged, and the people who have (urgent) business to attend.

حدثنا ابو بكر بن ابي شيبة ، حدثنا هشيم ، ووكيع ، قال: ح وحدثنا ابن نمير ، حدثنا ابي . ح وحدثنا ابن ابي عمر ، حدثنا سفيان كلهم، عن إسماعيل ، في هذا الإسناد، بمثل حديث هشيم.
This hadith like one narrated by Hashalm has been narrated from Isma'il with the same chain of transmitters.

وحدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد ، حدثنا المغيرة وهو ابن عبد الرحمن الحزامي ، عن ابي الزناد ، عن الاعرج ، عن ابي هريرة ، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: " إذا ام احدكم الناس، فليخفف، فإن فيهم، الصغير، والكبير، والضعيف، والمريض، فإذا صلى وحده، فليصل كيف شاء ".
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Apostle of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: When any one of you leads the people in prayer, he should be brief for among them are the young and the aged, the weak and the sick. But when one of you prays by himself, he may (prolong) as he likes.

حدثنا ابن رافع ، حدثنا عبد الرزاق ، حدثنا معمر ، عن همام بن منبه ، قال: هذا ما حدثنا ابو هريرة ، عن محمد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فذكر احاديث منها، وقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " إذا ما قام احدكم للناس، فليخفف الصلاة، فإن فيهم الكبير، وفيهم الضعيف، وإذا قام وحده، فليطل صلاته ما شاء ".
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Apostle of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: When any one of you leads the people in prayer, he should be brief for among them are the young and the aged, the weak and the sick. But when one of you prays by himself, he may (prolong) as he likes.

وحدثنا حرملة بن يحيى ، اخبرنا ابن وهب ، قال: اخبرني يونس ، عن ابن شهاب ، قال: اخبرني ابو سلمة بن عبد الرحمن ، انه سمع ابا هريرة ، يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " إذا صلى احدكم للناس، فليخفف، فإن في الناس، الضعيف، والسقيم، وذا الحاجة "،
Hammam bin Munabbih reported: This is what Abu Hurairah (RA) transmitted to us from Muhammad the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) , and he narrated (some) ahadith out of (these narrations and one of them is this): The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: When any one of you stands to lead people In prayer, he should shorten it, for amongst them are the aged, and amongst them are the weak, but when he prays by himself, he may prolong his prayer as he likes.

وحدثنا عبد الملك بن شعيب بن الليث ، حدثني ابي ، حدثني الليث بن سعد ، حدثني يونس ، عن ابن شهاب ، حدثني ابو بكر بن عبد الرحمن ، انه سمع ابا هريرة ، يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، بمثله، غير انه قال: بدل السقيم، الكبير.

حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن نمير ، حدثنا ابي ، حدثنا عمرو بن عثمان ، حدثنا موسى بن طلحة ، حدثني عثمان بن ابي العاص الثقفي ، " ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال له: ام قومك، قال: قلت: يا رسول الله، إني اجد في نفسي شيئا، قال: ادنه، فجلسني بين يديه، ثم وضع كفه في صدري بين ثديي، ثم قال: تحول، فوضعها في ظهري بين كتفي، ثم قال: ام قومك، فمن ام قوما، فليخفف، فإن فيهم الكبير، وإن فيهم المريض، وإن فيهم الضعيف، وإن فيهم ذا الحاجة، وإذا صلى احدكم وحده، فليصل كيف شاء ".
'Uthman bin Abu'l-'As at-Thaqafi reported: The Apostle of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said to him: Lead your people in prayer. I said: Messenger of Allah. I perceive something (disturbing) in my soul. He (the Holy Prophet) asked me to draw near him and making me sit down in front of him he placed his hand on my breast between my nipples. and then, telling me to turn round, he placed it on my back between my shoulders. He then said: Act as an Imam for your people. He who acts as Imam of the people, he must be brief, for among them are the aged, among them are the sick, among them are the weak, and among them are the people who have business to attend. But when any of you prays alone, he may pray as he likes.

حدثنا محمد بن المثنى ، وابن بشار ، قالا: حدثنا محمد بن جعفر ، حدثنا شعبة ، عن عمرو بن مرة ، قال: سمعت سعيد بن المسيب ، قال: حدث عثمان بن ابي العاص ، قال: " آخر ما عهد إلي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، إذا اممت قوما، فاخف بهم الصلاة ".
Uthman bin Abu'l-'As reported: The last thing which the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) instructed me was: When you lead the people in prayer, be brief.

وحدثنا خلف بن هشام ، وابو الربيع الزهراني ، قالا: حدثنا حماد بن زيد ، عن عبد العزيز بن صهيب ، عن انس ، " ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، كان يوجز في الصلاة ويتم ".
Anas reported: The Apostle of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) used to be brief and perfect in prayer.

حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى ، وقتيبة بن سعيد ، قال يحيى: اخبرنا، وقال قتيبة حدثنا ابو عوانة ، عن قتادة ، عن انس ، " ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، كان من اخف الناس صلاة في تمام ".
Anas reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) was among those whose prayers was brief and perfect.
