Hadiths About the Prohibition of Certain Vessels

٢٥٣٣٣ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا عباد بن العوام عن إسماعيل بن سميع عن مالك بن (عمير) (١) ان صعصعة بن صوحان اتى عليا فسلم عليه فقال: يا امير المؤمنين: (انهنا) (٢) (عما) (٣) نهاك عنه رسول الله ﷺ (٤) قال: (نهانا رسول الله) (٥) ﷺ (٦) عن الدباء والحنتم و (المقير) (٧) والجعة (٨).

(٨) مجهول منقطع؛ لجهالة مالك بن عمير، أخرجه أحمد (١١٦٢)، وأبو داود (٣٦٩٧)، والنسائي ٨/ ١٦٦، والبيهقي ٨/ ٢٩٢، والضياء (٧١٢)، وابن عساكر ٢٤/ ٨٠.
It is narrated from Hazrat Malik bin Umair that Sa’sa’ah bin Sawhan came to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and greeted him with salam. Then he said,“O Commander of the Faithful! Forbid us from those things from which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade you.”Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from Dubba’ (a large vessel made from dried gourd), Hantam (a green or red vessel), Muqayyar (a vessel coated with pitch), and Ji’ah (an intoxicant made from barley or wheat).

٢٥٣٣٤ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا علي بن مسهر عن الشيباني عن حبيب عن سعيد بن جبير عن ابن عباس قال: نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن الدباء والحنتم والمزفت والنقير (١).
ريفرينس و تحكيم الحدیث:
(١) صحيح؛ أخرجه مسلم (١٩٩٠)، وأحمد (٢٤٩٩)، وأصله عند البخاري (٥٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade Dubba, Hantam, Muzaffat... a jar coated with tar, and Naqir... a vessel made by hollowing out the thick wood of a tree... (All these vessels were used for alcohol).

٢٥٣٣٥ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا (مروان) (١) بن معاوية عن منصور بن حيان عن سعيد بن جبير قال: (اشهد) (٢) على ابن عباس وابن عمر انهما شهدا ان رسول الله ﷺ: نهى عن الدباء والحنتم والمزفت والنقير (٣).

(٣) صحيح؛ أخرجه مسلم (١٩٩٧)، وأحمد (٣٣٠٠).
It is narrated from Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair, he says that I bear witness regarding Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) and Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) that both of them testified that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade (the use of) Dubba, Hantam, Muzaffat, and Naqir.

٢٥٣٣٦ - [حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا محمد بن بشر ومحمد بن عبيد عن محمد بن عمرو عن ابي سلمة عن ابي هريرة قال: نهى رسول الله ﷺ ان ينبذ في المزفت والدباء (والحنتمة) (١) والنقير] (٢) (٣).

(٣) حسن؛ محمد بن عمرو صدوق، أخرجه أحمد (١٠٥١٠)، وابن ماجه (٣٤٠١)، والنسائي (٨/ ٢٩٧)، وابن حبان (٥٤٠٨)، وابن الجارود (٨٥٨)، وأبو يعلى (٥٩٤٤)، ووكيع في أخبار القضاة (٣/ ٤٣)، والطحاوي (١/ ٢١٥)، وأصله عند مسلم (١٩٩٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah, he says that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade making nabidh in: muzaffat, dubba', hantam, and naqir.

٢٥٣٣٧ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن نمير عن محمد بن ابي إسماعيل عن عمارة (بن) (١) عاصم (العنزي) (٢) قال: دخلت على انس بن مالك فسالته عن ⦗٢٣٦⦘ النبيذ فقال: نهى رسول الله ﷺ: عن الدباء والمزفت، فاعدتها عليه فقال: نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن الدباء والمزفت، (فاعدتها عليه فقال: نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن الدباء والمزفت) (٣) (٤).

(٤) مجهول؛ لجهالة عمارة بن عاصم،، قيل: هو عاصم بن عمير، وقيل عاصم بن أبي عمرة، أخرجه أحمد (١٢٧٠٧)، والطبراني في الأوسط (١٥٧٣)، وأبو يعلى (٤٣٤٤)، وذكره الحافظ في المطالب (٢٧٨)، وأخرج البخاري (٥٥٨٧)، ومسلم (١٩٩٢) نحوه من حديث أنس.
It is narrated from Hazrat Amarah bin Asim Anzi, he says: I presented myself before Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and I asked him about nabidh (fermented drink). He replied: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade (the use of) dubba and muzaffat. So I (Amarah) asked Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) this question again, and he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade dubba and muzaffat. I repeated this question to Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), and again he replied: (He) forbade muzaffat.

٢٥٣٣٨ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا علي بن إسحاق عن ابن مبارك عن (وقاء) (١) عن علي بن ربيعة عن سمرة قال: نهى رسول الله ﷺ: عن الدباء والمزفت (٢).

(٢) حسن؛ وقاء بن إياس صدوق، وأخرجه أحمد (٢٠١٨٦)، والطحاوي (٤/ ٢٢٧)، والطبراني (٦٧٥٨)، وابن عدي (٧/ ٢٥٥١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah that he says: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade (the use of) dubba’ and muzaffat.

٢٥٣٣٩ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا عبدة بن سليمان عن عبد الملك عن ابي الزبير عن جابر قال: نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن الدباء والنقير والمزفت (١).
ريفرينس و تحكيم الحدیث:
(١) صحيح؛ عبد الملك ثقة، أخرجه مسلم (١٩٩٨)، وأحمد (١٤٨٥١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir, he says that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade (the use of) dubba, naqir, and muzaffat.

٢٥٣٤٠ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن شعبة عن محارب عن ابن عمر قال: نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن الدباء والحنتم والمزفت، (قال) (١): واراه قال:"والنقير" (٢).

(١) في [أ، جـ، ح، ز]: زيادة (قال).
(٢) صحيح؛ أخرجه أحمد (٥٢٢٤)، وأبو يعلى (٥٦٧١)، وأصله عند مسلم (١٩٩٨).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade (the use of) Dubba, Hantam, and Muzaffat. The narrator says: I think he also mentioned Naqir.

٢٥٣٤١ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا ابو اسامة عن عبيد الله بن عمر عن نافع عن ابن عمر قال: خطب رسول الله ﷺ (الناس) (١) ذات يوم، (فجئت) (٢) وقد فرغ، فسالت الناس: ماذا قال رسول الله ﷺ؟ قالوا: (نهى) (٣) ان ينبذ في المزفت والقرع (٤).

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon to the people one day: So when I came to the gathering, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had already finished delivering the sermon. I asked the people (about the sermon) what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had said in the sermon? The people informed me that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had forbidden making nabidh (fermented drink) in muzaffat and qar’ (diba’) containers.

٢٥٣٤٢ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا شبابة عن شعبة عن سلمة قال: قال ابو الحكم: حدثني اخي عن ابي سعيد ان النبي ﷺ نهى عن نبيذ الجر والدباء والمزفت (١).

(١) صحيح؛ أخرجه أحمد (١٨٥)، والدارمي (٢١١٧)، والطيالسي (٢١٢٥)، والطحاوي (٤/ ٢٢٣)، وأبو يعلى (١٣٠٧)، وبنحوه أخرجه مسلم (١٩٨٧)، وأحمد (١٠٩٩١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed that the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the nabidh (fermented drink) made in gourds, dubba, and vessels coated with pitch.
