It is narrated from Hazrat Anas that he says: The lower garment should be up to half of the shin or up to the ankles; there is no good in the lower garment that is below this.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Sirin that he said: The earlier people used to dislike wearing the lower garment above the middle of the shin.

It is narrated from Harsha that Hazrat Umar asked for a razor, then he raised a man's lower garment above his ankles, and then whatever was below that, he cut off. The narrator says, it is as if that scene is before my eyes, that pieces of cloth were falling on his heels.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ishaq that he says: I saw many people among the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, who used to tie their lower garments at the middle of their shins. Then he mentioned Hazrat Usama bin Zaid, Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), Hazrat Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him), and Hazrat Bara bin Azib.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ikrimah that he says: I saw Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) tying his lower garment. He would let his lower garment hang in front of him, so much so that both its ends would reach the back of his feet, and then he would lift them from the back.

Hazrat Abu Sulaiman Maktab narrates from his father, who says that I saw Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) wearing a Najrani izar, and it was up to the middle of his shins.

It is narrated from Hazrat Musa bin Dehqan. He says that I saw Hazrat Abu Saeed and Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). The izar (lower garment) of both these gentlemen was up to the middle of their shins.

Hazrat Iyas bin Salamah narrates from his father that Hazrat Uthman bin Affan's lower garment was up to the middle of his shin. The narrator says that when he was asked about this, he replied: "This is the lower garment of my beloved," meaning this is the way of the lower garment of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

It is narrated from Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu’bah that he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:“O Sufyan bin Sahl! Do not let your garment hang down. For Allah Almighty does not like those who let their garments hang down.”
