How to convey greetings to someone else

٢٧٣٥٠ - حدثنا (ابو بكر قال) (١): حدثنا إسماعيل بن علية عن غالب قال: إنا لجلوس بباب الحسن إذ (جاء) (٢) رجل، (فقال) (٣): حدثني ابي عن جدي قال: بعثني ابي إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقال: (ائته) (٤) فاقرئه السلام، فاتيته فقلت: (إن) (٥) ابي (يقرئك) (٦) السلام، فقال:"وعليك وعلى ابيك السلام" (٧).

(٧) مجهول؛ لإبهام الرجل وأبيه، أخرجه أبو داود (٢٩٣٤)، وأحمد (٢٣١٠٤)، والنسائي في عمل اليوم والليلة (٣٧٣)، وفي السنة الكبرى (١٠٢٠٥)، وابن السني (٢٣٨)، والبيهقي (٦/ ٣٦١)، وأبو نعيم في الحلية (٧/ ٢٥٨)، والبغوي في الجعديات (١٤٧٧)، والخطيب في تاريخ بغداد (١٠/ ٤٣٤)، وابن عدي (٦/ ٢٠٣٥).
Hazrat Ghalib narrates that we were sitting at the door of Hasan Basri when a man came and said: My father narrated from my grandfather that he said: My father sent me to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: Go to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and convey my greetings to him. So I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: My father conveys his greetings to you. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Peace be upon you and your father.

٢٧٣٥١ - حدثنا حفص بن غياث عن اشعث عن محمد بن ابي المجالد عن ابن (ابي) (١) اوفى قال: قلت له: (إن) (٢) بني (اخيك) (٣) يقرؤنك السلام ثم اهل المسجد، قال: (و) (٤) عليك وعليهم (٥).

Hazrat Muhammad bin Abu Mukhallad says that I said to Hazrat Ibn Abi Awfa: "Your nephews have conveyed their greetings to you, and then the people of the mosque as well." He replied, "And peace be upon you and upon them."

٢٧٣٥٢ - حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن شعبة عن الاعمش عن إبراهيم عن الاسود قال: قال (لي) (١) عبد الله: إذا لقيت عمر -او كلمة نحوها- (فاقرئه) (٢) السلام، فلقيته فاقراته (السلام) (٣) فقال: عليه - (او وعليه) (٤) - السلام ورحمة الله (٥).

Hazrat Aswad narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) instructed me: When you meet Hazrat Umar, convey my greetings to him. The narrator says that when I met him, I conveyed the greetings to him. He replied in this manner: "Wa 'alayh" or he replied, "Wa 'alayh as-salam wa rahmatullah."

٢٧٣٥٣ - حدثنا عبد الرحيم بن سليمان عن زكريا عن الشعبي عن ابي سلمة ان عائشة حدثته ان النبي ﷺ قال لها:"إن جبريل يقرا عليك السلام" فقالت: وعليه السلام ورحمة الله (١).
ريفرينس و تحكيم الحدیث:
(١) صحيح؛ أخرجه البخاري (٦٢٥٣)، ومسلم (٢٤٤٧).
Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: Indeed, Jibreel is conveying greetings of peace to you. She replied: And peace and mercy of Allah be upon him.

٢٧٣٥٤ - حدثنا معاذ بن معاذ وابو اسامة عن ابن عون قال: كان محمد (إذا قيل له) (١): (إن) (٢) فلانا يقرئك السلام، قال: وعليك وعليه السلام.

Hazrat Ibn Aun narrates that when someone would say to the Imam that a certain person has conveyed greetings of peace (salaam) to you, he would reply in this manner: "Wa alaika wa alaihis salaam."
