Teaching Etiquette to an Orphan Child

٢٨٣٩١ - حدثنا ابو اسامة عن شعبة قال: حدثتني شميسة قالت: سمعت ⦗٥٣٠⦘ عائشة (و) (١) سئلت عن ادب اليتيم فقالت: (إني) (٢) لاضرب احدهم حتى (ينبسط) (٣) (٤).

(٣) في [أ، ب، ط]: (ينتشط).
(٤) صحيح.
Hazrat Shumaisa says that I heard Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) saying that she was asked about teaching manners to an orphan child. She replied: Surely, I would beat one of them so much that he would become happy.

٢٨٣٩٢ - حدثنا ابن عيينة عن عمرو عن الحسن العرني ان رجلا قال للنبي ﷺ: مم اضرب يتيمي؟ قال:"اضربه مما كنت ضاريا منه ولدك" (١).

(١) مرسل؛ الحسن العرني تابعي، أخرجه عبد الرزاق في التفسير (١/ ١٤٨)، وابن المبارك في البر والصلة (٢١٠)، وابن جرير في التفسير (٤/ ٢٦٠)، والنحاس في التاريخ (١/ ٣٠٠)، والبيهقي (٦/ ٤)، وتقدم برقم: [٢٢٧١١].
Hasan Arni narrates that a companion asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): To what extent can I hit an orphan? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Hit him only as much as you would hit your own child.

٢٨٣٩٣ - حدثنا (عفان) (١) قال: حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن ابي جعفر الخطمي ان اباه سال سعيد بن المسيب او قال: ارسل مولى له وانا معه يساله: مم يضرب الرجل يتيمه؟ قال: مم يضرب الرجل ولده.
ريفرينس و تحكيم الحدیث:

Hazrat Abu Ja'far Khatmi narrates that his father asked Hazrat Sa'id bin Musayyib or said: He sent his servant and I was with him, that to what extent can a man beat an orphan? He replied: As much as a man can beat his own child. Hazrat Abu Ja'far narrates: He asked Hazrat Muhammad bin Ka'b; he also gave the same answer.

28394 - Abu Ja'far said: And Muhammad ibn Ka'b was asked, and he said: The same as that.
