Hazrat Saeed narrates that Hazrat Umar used to say, "Blood money is the right of the family members; the wife will not receive any share of her husband's blood money as inheritance." Until Hazrat Dahhak bin Sufyan Kalabi wrote a letter to him stating that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made the wife of Ashyam Dubabi an heir to her husband's blood money.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib narrates that Hazrat Umar bin Khattab stood in Mina and asked the people: "Is there anyone who has knowledge regarding whether a woman inherits the blood money (diyah) of her husband?" Upon this, Hazrat Dahiak bin Sufyan Kalabi stood up and said, "Enter your tent until I inform you about this." So he entered, and then Hazrat Dahiak came to him and said, "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wrote a letter to me instructing me to make the wife of Ashyam Dhibabi the inheritor of her husband's blood money."

Hazrat Mughira narrates that Ibrahim, regarding a person who was killed and then some of the heirs forgave his blood, gave the following ruling about the wife of the murdered man: She will receive inheritance from the blood money.

Hazrat Hisham states that Hasan Basri said: A wife will inherit the blood money (diyah) of her husband.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Dhi'b states that Imam Zuhri said: When blood money (diyat) is accepted in the case of intentional murder, it will be considered inheritance, and the wife of the husband and others will become its heirs.

Hazrat Sha'bi narrates that Hazrat Umar said: Every heir, and the husband or wife, will inherit from the blood money (diyat) in cases of accidental or intentional killing.
