The Reward for Remembering Allah

٣١٤٣٥ - حدثنا شريك عن يحيى بن سعيد عن سعيد بن المسيب قال: قال معاذ بن جبل: لو ان رجلين يحمل احدهما على الجياد في سبيل الله، والآخر يذكر الله، لكان افضل او اعظم اجرا الذاكر (١).
ريفرينس و تحكيم الحدیث:
(١) منقطع؛ سعيد لم يسمع من معاذ.
Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib narrates that Hazrat Muadh bin Jabal said: If there are two men, one of whom mounts a horse to fight in the way of Allah and the other remembers Allah, then the one who remembers Allah will be considered superior or will attain a greater reward.

٣١٤٣٦ - حدثنا يحيى بن آدم عن مفضل عن منصور عن مجاهد عن ابي بكر بن عبد الرحمن (بن الحارث) (١) بن هشام عن كعب قال: قال موسى: يا رب دلني على عمل إذا عملته كان شكرا لك فيما (اصطنعت) (٢) إلى قال: يا موسى (قل) (٣): (لا إله إلا الله او قال) (٤): لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد وهو ⦗٢٢٦⦘ على كل شيء قدير، قال: فكان موسى اراد من العمل ما هو (انهك) (٥) لجسمه مما امر به، قال: فقال له: يا موسى، لو ان السماوات السبع والارضين السبع وضعت في كفة ووضعت لا إله إلا الله في كفة لرجحت بهن.

(٣) في [ط]: (قال).
(٤) سقط من: [هـ].
(٥) في [أ، هـ]: (أنهد).
Hazrat Ka'b narrates that Hazrat Musa said: O my Lord! Guide me towards such an action that when I perform it, it will be considered as my gratitude to You for all the favors You have bestowed upon me. Allah, the Lord of Majesty, said: O Musa! Recite these words! There is no deity except Allah, or He said: There is no deity except Allah, He is alone, He has no partner, His is the dominion and for Him is all praise, and He has power over everything. Hazrat Ka'b says: It is as if Hazrat Musa was seeking such an action that whatever was commanded would greatly tire his body. Hazrat Ka'b says: Then Allah said to him: O Musa! If the seven heavens and the seven earths were placed on one side of the scale and the Kalima Tayyiba (There is no deity except Allah) was placed on the other side, the side with the Kalima would outweigh the other.

٣١٤٣٧ - حدثنا شريك عن الاعمش عن سالم قال: قيل لابي الدرداء: إن ابا (سعد) (١) بن منبه جعل في ماله مائة محررة، فقال: إن مائة محررة في مال رجل لكثير، الا اخبركم بافضل من ذلك، إيمان (ملزوم) (٢) بالليل والنهار، ولا يزال لسانك رطبا من ذكر الله (٣).

(٢) في [جـ]: (بلزوم).
(٣) منقطع؛ سالم لم يسمع من أبي الدرداء، أخرجه أحمد في الزهد ص ١٣٦، وأبو نعيم في الحلية ١/ ٢١٩، والبيهقي في شعب الإيمان (٦٢٧)، وابن فضيل في الدعاء (٩١).
Hazrat Salim narrates that Hazrat Abu Darda was informed that Abu Sa’d bin Munabbih had freed one hundred slaves from his wealth. Hazrat Abu Darda said,“One hundred slaves is a lot, but shall I tell you something better than that? It is that you keep your tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah day and night with faith.”

٣١٤٣٨ - حدثنا وكيع عن مسعر عن عبد الملك بن ميسرة (عن مسلم) (١) عن سويد ابن (جهيل) (٢) قال: من قال بعد العصر: لا إله إلا الله له الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير قاتلن عن قائلها إلى مثلها من الغد.
ريفرينس و تحكيم الحدیث:
(١) سيأتي الخبر في كتاب الزهد برقم [٣٧٧٩٧] بدون هذه الزيادة، وهو الموافق لما في التاريخ الكبير ٤/ ١٤٤، والجرح والتعديل ٤/ ٢٣٥، والثقات ٤/ ٣٢٣.
(٢) في [أ، ب، ط]: (جميل).
Hazrat Suwaid bin Juheil said: Whoever recites these words after Asr: There is no deity except Allah, all praise is for Him, and He is powerful over everything, then the angels defend the one who recites these words until the same time the next day.

٣١٤٣٩ - حدثنا محمد بن بشر عن مسعر عن عبد الملك بن ميسرة عن مسلم مولى سويد بن (جهيل) (١) عن سويد قال (و) (٢) كان من اصحاب عمر ثم ذكر نحو حديث وكيع.

(٢) سقط من: [أ، ح، ط، هـ].
The same instruction as mentioned previously is also narrated through this chain from Hazrat Suwaid bin Juhail, who was among the companions of Hazrat Umar.

٣١٤٤٠ - حدثنا محمد بن بشر حدثنا مسعر عن سعد بن إبراهيم عن ابي عبيدة قال: العبد ما ذكر الله فهو في صلاة.
Hazrat Saad bin Ibrahim narrates that Hazrat Abu Ubaidah said: Whoever remembers Allah is in the state of prayer.

٣١٤٤١ - حدثنا جرير عن منصور عن سالم عن مسروق قال: ما دام قلب الرجل يذكر (١) فهو في صلاة، وإن كان في السوق.

Hazrat Salim narrates that Hazrat Masruq Tabi'i said: The person whose heart continuously remembers Allah is in a state of prayer, even if he is in the marketplace.

٣١٤٤٢ - (حدثنا جرير عن منصور عن هلال عن ابي عبيدة قال: ما دام قلب الرجل يذكر الله فهو في صلاة وإن كان في السوق) (١)، وإن يحرك به شفتيه فهو افضل.

Hazrat Hilal narrates that Hazrat Abu Ubaidah said: The person whose heart continuously remembers Allah is in a state of prayer even if he is in the marketplace. And if he moves his lips while remembering, then this is the most virtuous act.

٣١٤٤٣ - حدثنا مرحوم بن عبد العزيز عن ابي نعامة السعدي عن ابي عثمان النهدي عن ابي سعيد الخدري قال: خرج معاوية على حلقة في المسجد فقال: ما اجلسكم (قالوا) (١): جلسنا نذكر الله (ونحمده على ما هدانا للإسلام ومن علينا به) (٢)، قال: آلله ما اجلسكم إلا ذاك؟ قالوا: والله ما اجلسنا إلا ذاك، فقال: (اما) (٣) إني لم استحلفكم تهمة لكم، وما (من) (٤) احد بمنزلة من رسول الله ﷺ اقل عنه حديثا مني، وإن رسول الله ﷺ خرج على حلقة من اصحابه فقال: إما اجلسكم؟" فقالوا: جلسنا نذكر الله ونحمده على ما هدانا للإسلام ومن علينا به، قال:"آلله ما اجلسكم إلا ذاك؟" (قالوا: والله ما اجلسنا إلا ذاك) (٥)، فقال:"اما ⦗٢٢٨⦘ إني لم استحلفكم تهمة لكم ولكني اتاني جبريل فاخبرني ان الله يباهي (بكم) (٦) الملائكة" (٧).

Hazrat Abu Saeed Al-Khudri narrates that Hazrat Muawiyah came to a circle in the mosque, then said: What has made you sit here? The people replied: We are remembering Allah and praising Him because He has guided us to Islam and has bestowed His favor upon us through Islam. Hazrat Muawiyah said: By Allah! Is it really for this purpose that you are sitting here? The people said: By Allah! We are sitting only for this reason. So Hazrat Muawiyah said: In any case, I did not make you swear an oath because of any accusation, and not a single one among you is less in status than me regarding the matter of the hadith of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. And indeed, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came to a circle of the companions, then said: What has made you sit here? The companions replied: We are sitting and remembering Allah and praising Him because Allah has granted us guidance to Islam and has bestowed His favor upon us through it. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: By Allah! Is it really for this reason that you are sitting? The companions replied: By Allah! We are sitting only for this reason. Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Indeed, I did not make you swear an oath because of any accusation. But Jibreel came to me, and he informed me that Allah, Lord of Might and Majesty, is boasting of you before the angels because of you.

٣١٤٤٤ - حدثنا يزيد بن هارون اخبرنا محمد بن عمرو عن محمد بن إبراهيم قال: قال عبادة بن الصامت: لان اكون في قوم يذكرون الله من حين يصلون الغداة إلى حين (تطلع) (١) الشمس احب إلي من ان اكون على متون الخيل اجاهد في سبيل الله إلى ان تطلع الشمس، ولان اكون في قوم يذكرون (الله) (٢) من حين يصلون العصر حتى تغرب الشمس احب إلي من ان اكون على متون الخيل اجاهد في سبيل الله حتى تغرب الشمس (٣).

(٣) منقطع؛ محمد بن إبراهيم لم يسمع من عبادة.
Hazrat Muhammad bin Ibrahim narrates that Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit said: I prefer to sit among those people who remember Allah from the morning prayer until the sun rises, more than riding on horseback in the path of Allah until the sun rises. And I prefer to remain among such people who remember Allah from the afternoon prayer until the sun sets, more than riding on horseback in the path of Allah until the sun sets.
