Abu Al-Ahwas narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whoever has learned the Qur'an should also learn the knowledge of inheritance laws, and should not become like that man to whom a villager came and asked: O servant of Allah! Are you a Muhajir? He replied: Yes! The villager asked: My wife has passed away and has left behind such and such wealth, so if he knew (the answer), then that is knowledge granted by Allah Almighty, and if he did not know, then the villager said: O group of Muhajirin! In what matter do you have superiority over us?

The same statement is also narrated from Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) through another chain of transmission.

Ibrahim narrates that Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Acquire the knowledge of inheritance, for inheritance is a part of your religion.

Salih Abu al-Khalil narrates that Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The example of a person who recites the Qur'an but does not know the knowledge of inheritance is like someone who has two hands but no head.

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Qais that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Whoever recites Surah Nisa and comes to know which things become obstacles in inheritance and which things do not, then that person has acquired the knowledge of inheritance.

It is narrated from Muslim that Hazrat Masruq was asked whether Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) had knowledge of inheritance. He replied, "By Him in Whose hand is my soul, I have seen the senior elders among the Companions asking her questions regarding inheritance."

It is narrated from Hisham that his respected father said: I have not found anyone more knowledgeable than Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) in matters of inheritance, jurisprudence, and poetry.

It is narrated from Ali bin Rabah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered a sermon to the people at the place of Jabiyah. After praising and glorifying Allah, he said: Whoever wishes to ask about the Qur'an should come to Ubayy bin Ka'b, and whoever wishes to ask about the knowledge of inheritance (Ilm al-Fara'id) should come to Zayd bin Thabit.

Qasim bin Abdur Rahman narrates that Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Acquire the knowledge of the Qur'an and inheritance, because the time is near when a person will be in need of the knowledge which he used to know, or he will remain among a people who do not know it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Sulaiman bin Musa that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever violates the inheritance which Allah the Blessed and Exalted has made obligatory in His Book, Allah the Blessed and Exalted will take away his inheritance in Paradise.
