Hazrat Atiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) came and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I have many clients among the Jews. They are numerous, and their support is present. But I disassociate myself from the guardianship of the Jews for the sake of Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). So Allah, the Lord of Might, revealed this verse about Hazrat Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him): from {إنَّمَا وَلِیُّکُمُ اللَّہُ وَرَسُولُہُ وَالَّذِینَ آمَنُوا } to { بِأَنَّہُمْ قَوْمٌ لاَیَعْقِلُونَ }.
