Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Three things are forbidden: the earnings of the cupper, the earnings of a prostitute, and the price of a dog. However, the ruling for a hunting dog is different. (One of the narrators of this narration) Waleed bin Ubaidullah is weak.

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the price of a dog and a cat, except that the ruling regarding a trained dog (i.e., a hunting dog) is different. (One of the narrators of this narration) Hasan bin Abu Ja'far is weak.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Three things are forbidden: the earnings of the cupper, the payment to a woman who commits adultery is forbidden, and the price of a dog is forbidden, except for a hunting dog, which has a different ruling. (One of the narrators of this narration), Mathna, is weak.

Abu Zubair, narrating from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), says: I think he mentioned this from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he forbade the use (of proceeds) from the price of a dog and a cat, except that the ruling for a hunting dog is different.

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: The price (use) of a dog and a cat has been prohibited, except that the ruling for a hunting dog is different.

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: The price (use) of a dog and a cat has been prohibited, except for the case of a hunting dog, which has a different ruling. Hammad did not mention this narration as being attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and this narration is more authentic than the previous one.

Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever buys a musarrat animal, he will have the option for three days; if he wishes, within this period, he may return it along with one sa’ of grain, which should not be wheat."

This same narration is also transmitted through another chain from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) have narrated as a marfu‘ hadith: (The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him,) said:“A townsman should not sell on behalf of a villager; do not buy goods (of a caravan) on the way before they reach the market; do not artificially raise bids; no one should offer a price against the price offered by his brother; no one should send a marriage proposal against the proposal of his brother, until the other person marries or withdraws his proposal; no woman should demand the divorce of her sister (co-wife) so that she may obtain her share of benefits, for she will only get what is decreed for her; do not sell a musarrat she-camel or goat (one whose milk is tied up); whoever buys it has the option, if he wishes, to return it with one sa‘ of dates; the milk of an animal held in pledge may be milked and it may be ridden.”

Amr ibn Shu'ayb narrates from his father, from his grandfather: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:“(In a single transaction) advance payment and sale, two conditions in one transaction, selling what one does not possess, profit from something for which one does not bear liability—(all these things) are not permissible.”
