Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "An impotent man will be given a respite of one year."

This narration is also transmitted with another chain of transmission.

Saeed bin al-Musayyib, regarding a man who is unable to have intercourse with his wife, said: "He should be given a respite of one year."

Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Such a person will be given a respite of one year; if he becomes able to have intercourse, then fine, otherwise separation will be effected between the husband and wife."

Abu Nu’man reports: We went to ask Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) about an impotent man, so he said:“He should be given a respite of one year.”

Sayyiduna Mughira bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:“An impotent man will be given a respite of one year.”

Sayyiduna Mughira bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:“An impotent man will be given a respite of one year, and this will be counted from the day the woman filed the case.”Abdur Rahman said: Sufyan Thawri and Imam Malik have given the same verdict: (The calculation of this respite will begin from the day) the woman filed the case.
