Sunan Saeed bin Mansur
كِتَابُ التَّفْسِيرِ
Book of Tafsir (Quranic Exegesis)
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ لَيْلَةَ الصِّيَامِ الرَّفَثُ إِلَى نِسَائِكُمْ}
His saying, Exalted is He: {It has been made permissible for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives [for sexual relations].}
Hadith Number: 275
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا سفيان ، عن عمرو بن دينار ، عن عكرمة ، قال:" كان الرجل ياكل ويشرب ما لم ينم، فنام رجل من المسلمين، فحرم عليه الطعام والشراب إلى مثلها، فاصاب رجل مرتين او ثلاثا، ثم نزلت الرخصة: احل لكم ليلة الصيام الرفث إلى نسائكم سورة البقرة آية 187" .
Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Previously, a person could eat and drink until he slept. So, if a Muslim slept, eating and drinking became forbidden for him until the next evening. Someone did this two or three times, then this concession was revealed: ﴿أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ لَيْلَةَ الصِّيَامِ الرَّفَثُ إِلَىٰ نِسَائِكُمْ﴾ "It has been made lawful for you to go to your wives on the night of fasting."
