Saeed narrated that Ibn Abi Layla and Ash'ath reported from 'Amir Sha'bi regarding Sayyiduna 'Ali and Sayyiduna Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them) that they used to give inheritance to three grandmothers: two from the father's side and one from the mother's side, and they would give the sixth share to the nearest one.

Saeed narrated that Muhammad bin Salihah from Saeed bin Al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him), he said about Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that: "He gave inheritance to a man's grandmother, who was from Thaqif, along with her son."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to make three grandmothers heirs: two from the father's side and one from the mother's side, and he would divide the one-sixth share among them until one grandmother would inherit from the other.

Sayyiduna Ali and Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to give one-sixth to the nearest grandmother.

Talha, Kharijah, and Sulaiman bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on them) said: "If the maternal grandmother is closer, then she is more entitled."

They used to make three grandmothers heirs: two from the father's side and one from the mother's side.

Ibn Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "The first grandmother who was given the one-sixth share was the father’s mother along with her son."

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The grandmother is made an heir along with her son."

Hasan and Ibn Sirin, may Allah have mercy on them, used to make the grandmother an heir along with her son.

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) used to make the grandmother an heir along with her son.
