Book of Marriage
بَابُ الشَّرْطِ عِنْدَ عَقْدِ النِّكَاحِ
Chapter: Condition at the time of marriage contract
Hadith Number: 686
نا نا هشيم، قال: انا عوف، عن انس بن مالك , انه كان إذا زوج بنتا من بناته او من مواليه، قال: يقول:" عليك ان تمسك بمعروف او تسرح بإحسان" .
Whenever Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) married off his daughters or slave-girls, he would say: "It is incumbent upon you to either keep them in a recognized (good) manner or to release them in a good way."

Hadith Number: 687
نا نا سفيان، عن عمرو بن دينار , قال: كان ابن عمر إذا نكح , قال:" انكحتك على ما امر الله تبارك وتعالى: فإمساك بمعروف او تسريح بإحسان سورة البقرة آية 229" .
Whenever Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) performed a marriage, he would say: "I have married you according to what Allah Almighty has commanded: «معروف طریقے سے انہیں روکو یا اچھے طریقے سے رخصت کرو» [البقرہ: 229] ."

Hadith Number: 688
نا نا سفيان، عن ابن عجلان، عن رجل , حسبت انه سليمان , قال: خطبت إلى ابن عمر مولاة له، فقال: " انكحك على ما امر الله عز وجل: فإمساك بمعروف او تسريح بإحسان سورة البقرة آية 229" .
A man asked for the hand of the slave girl of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), so he said: "I have married you to whom Allah, the Exalted, has commanded: «معروف طریقے سے انہیں روکو یا اچھے طریقے سے رخصت کرو» [البقرہ: 229] ."

Hadith Number: 689
نا نا هشيم، قال: انا من سمع ابا بكر بن حفص , يحدث عن عروة بن الزبير , قال: لحقت ابن عمر فخطبت إليه ابنته، فقال لي:" إن ابن ابي عبد الله لاهل ان ينكح، نحمد ربنا ونصلي على نبينا صلى الله عليه وسلم , وقد انكحناك على ما امر الله عز وجل: فإمساك بمعروف او تسريح بإحسان سورة البقرة آية 229" .
Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) for his daughter's hand in marriage, so he said: 'We thank Allah and send blessings upon our Prophet (peace be upon him). I have married her to the one whom Allah Almighty has commanded: «معروف طریقے سے انہیں روکو یا اچھے طریقے سے رخصت کرو» [البقرہ: 229] .'"

نا عبد الله بن وهب , قال: اخبرني عمرو بن الحارث، عن بكير بن الاشج، عن سليمان بن يسار , انه" كان يكره ان يضع، الرجل يده على امراة قد نكحها حتى يسمي صداقها او يقدم شيئا" .
Sulaiman bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "They used to dislike that a man touch a woman without having fixed the dowry or without giving some wealth beforehand."
