بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي عِدَّةِ أُمِّ الْوَلَدِ
Chapter: What is reported regarding the waiting period of Umm al-Walad (mother of a child)
Hadith Number: 1282
نا ابو عوانة، عن ابي بشر، عن سعيد بن جبير، انه قال في عدة ام الولد إذا مات عنها سيدها او اعتقها، قال:" عدة الحرة" .
Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) said: When the owner of an umm walad passes away or she is set free, her waiting period (‘iddah) will be like that of a free woman.

Hadith Number: 1283
نا نا هشيم، قال: نا ابو شهاب، عن الحجاج بن ارطاة، عن عامر، عن الحارث، عن علي رضي الله عنه , قال: " إذا اعتقت ام الولد فعدتها ثلاث حيض ، فقال حجاج: فإن مات عنها فمثل ذلك".
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When an umm walad is set free, her waiting period is three menstrual cycles. And if her master dies, the same ruling applies.

Hadith Number: 1284
نا نا ابو معاوية، قال: نا حجاج، عن الحكم، عن علي رضي الله عنه , قال: " عدة ام الولد ثلاث حيض" .
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The waiting period (‘iddah) of an umm walad is three menstrual cycles.

Hadith Number: 1285
نا نا يزيد بن هارون، عن الحجاج، عن الشعبي، عن علي ، وعبد الله ، قالا في ام الولد إذا مات عنها سيدها، قال:" تعتد ثلاثة قروء" .
Sayyiduna Ali and Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them) said: When the owner of an umm walad passes away, she must observe an 'iddah of three periods (quru’).

نا ابو معاوية، قال: نا الاعمش، عن إبراهيم، قال: " عدة ام الولد ثلاث حيض" .
Ibrahim Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The 'iddah of an umm walad is three menstrual cycles.
تخریج الحدیث:
Hadith Number: 1287
نا هشيم، قال: انا عبيدة، عن إبراهيم، ومن سمع الحكم يحدث , عن إبراهيم، قال: " تعتد ثلاث حيض او ثلاثة اشهر" .
Ibrahim Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: An umm walad should observe 'iddah for three menstrual cycles or three months.

نا نا ابو معاوية، قال: انا الحجاج، عن نافع، ان ابن عمر ، قال: " عدة ام الولد حيضة" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The waiting period (‘iddah) of an umm walad is one menstrual cycle.

Hadith Number: 1289
نا نا هشيم، قال: انا داود، عن الشعبي، عن ابن عمر ، قال: " تعتد بحيضة واحدة" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: An umm walad will observe 'iddah for one menstrual cycle.

Hadith Number: 1290
نا هشيم، قال: انا خالد، عن ابي قلابة، مثل ذلك.
It is also narrated in the same manner from Hazrat Abu Qilabah (may Allah have mercy on him).

نا هشيم، قال: انا حميد الطويل، عن سعيد بن جبير، انه قال: " اربعة اشهر وعشرا" .
Hazrat Sa'id bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The waiting period ('iddah) is four months and ten days.
