Chapter on Sincerity and Secret Deeds – Affirming no reward in the Hereafter for those who show off or seek praise in their deeds.
Hadith Number: 406
اخبرنا عبد الله بن محمد الازدي ، قال: حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم الحنظلي ، قال: اخبرنا الملائي ، قال: حدثنا سفيان ، عن سلمة بن كهيل ، قال: سمعت جندبا ، يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، ولم اسمع احدا غيره، يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فدنوت قريبا منه، فسمعته يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " من سمع يسمع الله به، ومن راءى يرائي الله به" .
Salamah bin Kuhail narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said this: I had not heard anyone else saying that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said this, so I moved closer to Sayyiduna Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him). I heard him saying that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever acts for fame, Allah will make his fame known, and whoever acts for show, Allah will make his show apparent."
