باب إفشاء السلام وإطعام الطعام - ذكر الأمر بالسلام لمن أتى نادي قوم فجلس إليهم واستعمال مثله عند القيام
Chapter on Spreading Peace and Feeding Others – Command to greet people when joining a gathering and when leaving.
Hadith Number: 494
اخبرنا ابن قتيبة ، حدثنا يزيد بن موهب الرملي ، حدثنا المفضل بن فضالة ، عن ابن عجلان عن سعيد المقبري ، عن ابي هريرة، عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: " إذا انتهى احدكم إلى مجلس فليسلم، فإن بدا له ان يجلس فليجلس، فإذا قام فليسلم، فليست الاولى باحق من الآخرة" .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): "When a person comes to a gathering, he should greet (with salam). Then if he finds it appropriate to sit there, he may sit. And when he stands up (to leave), he should greet (with salam), because the first one is not more entitled than the second."
