Hadith Number: 502
اخبرنا محمد بن عبد الرحمن السامي ، قال: حدثنا يحيى بن ايوب المقابري ، قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن جعفر ، قال: اخبرني عبد الله بن دينار ، انه سمع ابن عمر ، يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:" إن اليهود إذا سلموا عليكم إنما يقول احدهم: السام عليك، فقل وعليك" .
Abdullah bin Dinar narrates: He heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) stating that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the Jews greet you, one of them says: 'As-Saamu Alaik' (meaning: death be upon you), so you should say: 'Wa Alaik' (and upon you)."
