Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – Clarification that clasping in bowing was at the beginning of Islam, then abrogated by the command to place hands on knees
Hadith Number: 1883
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، حدثنا إسحاق بن إسماعيل الطالقاني ، حدثنا وكيع ، عن إسماعيل بن ابي خالد ، عن الزبير بن عدي ، عن مصعب بن سعد بن ابي وقاص ، قال: كنت إذا صليت، طبقت، ووضعت يدي بين ركبتي، فرآني ابي سعد ، فقال:" كنا نفعل هذا، فنهينا عنه، وامرنا بالركب" .
Mus'ab bin Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas narrates: When I used to perform prayer, I would do tatbeeq and place both my hands between my knees. My father, Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him), saw me doing this and said: We used to do this before, then we were forbidden from it, and we were commanded to place (our hands) on the knees.
