Chapter on What is Disliked and Not Disliked – Reason for Prohibition of Shortening the Prayer
Hadith Number: 2286
اخبرنا محمد بن إسحاق بن خزيمة ، قال: حدثنا علي بن عبد الرحمن بن المغيرة ، قال: حدثنا ابو صالح الحراني ، قال: حدثنا عيسى بن يونس ، عن هشام ، عن محمد ، عن ابي هريرة ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " الاختصار في الصلاة راحة اهل النار"، قال: ابو حاتم: يعني فعل اليهود والنصارى، وهم اهل النار.
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Placing the hand on the side during prayer is a way of seeking comfort used by the people of Hell." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says: What is meant by this is that this is the practice of the Jews and Christians, and those people are the people of Hell.)
