Patience and Reward for Illness and Afflictions - Affirmation of reward for the patient in hardship and the grateful in ease
Hadith Number: 2896
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، قال: حدثنا شيبان بن فروخ ، قال: حدثنا سليمان بن المغيرة ، عن ثابت ، عن عبد الرحمن بن ابي ليلى ، عن صهيب ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " عجبا لامر المؤمن إن امره كله خير، إن اصابته سراء شكر، وإن اصابته ضراء صبر، وكان خيرا له، وليس ذلك لاحد إلا للمؤمن" .
Sayyiduna Suhaib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "The affair of the believing servant is astonishing; his matter is good in every situation. If he receives good news, he is grateful. If he faces distress, he is patient, and that too is better for him. This quality is possessed only by the believer."
